West Ham transfer target Tyler Morton is set to complete his £15 million move from Liverpool to Olympique Lyonnais this weekend.
The Hammers spent the early part of the window chasing the England U21 midfielder, but interest has cooled in the past two weeks. The reason for stepping back is said to be the impressive performances of Freddie Potts in pre-season and training.
Signing Morton would likely block Pottsā pathway to the first teamāand for that same reason, Graham Potter is happy to sanction the sale of Andy Irving, although a Ā£2.2 million bid for the Scot has already been rejected.
Meanwhile, talk of Mortonās Anfield teammate Harvey Elliott has gone quiet since Lucas PaquetĆ” was cleared of betting chargesāperhaps an indication that West Hamās focus in midfield has shifted.
Liverpool are reported to have secured a 20% sell-on clause in Mortonās Lyon deal and remain open to selling Elliott if a suitable offer comes in.
Looked into this Truth is we put in only a verbal offer nothing formal whitch was very low So they rejected us not the other way round
How have we pulled the plug Gonzo ? Lyon offered allegedly £5m more than we did and player has signed, more imho that we tried to get the player on the cheap and lost out as we so often do, may be a blessing in disguise however if Potts takes a CDM role ?
Yes I totally agree , but to also be told they are trying hard to sign Harvey Elliott but can’t because we have no money to spend just shows what the club has become. Sullivan and the silent Czech whoever he is can invest Ā£90 million of their own money without breaking PSR so why did the club have to arrange Ā£140 million overdraft?
