West Ham out of bidding for Espirito Santo’s top transfer target
Coventry City are demanding a king’s ransom for their top striker Haji Wright, who has been recently linked to West Ham.
When the Hammers approached the Midlands outfit, they were quoted £120m plus an additional £80m if the Championship don’t get promoted, plus a £40m bonus if West Ham stay up in the Premier League. A Claret & Hugh source told us “What they’ve asked for is eye watering but who can blame them”?
It is obvious Coventry -and probably Frank Lampard – don’t want to sell, and that crazy £240m price tag demonstrates that fully.
It goes without saying that negotiations haven’t continued after the Championship club dropped that bomb shell after an initial enquiry.

Nuno is said to be keen to bring Wright to West Ham but Coventry have priced him out of a January transfer
Haji Wright has scored nine goals across all competitions in 15 games so far in the 2025-2026 season for Coventry City.
Wright joined the EFL Championship club from Antalyaspor in the summer of 2023, on a four-year contract for a club-record transfer fee of €9 million (£7.88m)
Born in Los Angeles, USA, he became a full USA international in 2022 and has so far made 20 senior appearances, scoring 7 goals. Yesterday ExWHUEmployee revealed Wright was a top target for Nuno Espirito Santo who believes he’s well suited to the Premier league.
I’m not bothered to be honest I was underwhelmed anyway !
Could have just said ‘sling you hook Nuno’.
Still that must make Bowen worth £500m.
All aspects of football figures are completely out of hand.
