West Ham Race Forest to Spend Tottenham Cash

West Ham are now set to rival Nottingham Forest for the signature of Manchester City midfielder James McAtee, according to a report in the Telegraph.

Forest are searching for a new attacking midfielder following the revelation that Morgan Gibbs-White is set to follow Mohammed Kudus to Spurs. The £60m fee Forest will receive for Gibbs-White is expected to be immediately reinvested, and McAtee is reported to be near the top of their list.

The 22-year-old has been on West Ham’s radar for the best part of a year and last week lifted the European Under-21 Championship with England. The Hammers seem to have been linked with half of Lee Carsley’s victorious squad—we’ve got to land at least one of them, surely?

A board source told C&H earlier this week that an attacking midfielder capable of unlocking defences was a key priority for Graham Potter following the sale of Kudus to Tottenham.

On a side note, the way Spurs have conducted their transfer business—quietly landing Gibbs-White while pleading poverty in their pursuit of Kudus—is as impressive as it is infuriating.

The Hammers board need to act quickly—whether it’s McAtee, Omari Hutchinson, Harvey Elliott or anyone else—because right now, West Ham are coming off a very distant second best.

We all know Sullivan’s is an incompetent buffoon.
His ridiculous attitude of not buying a quality manager out of contract has cost us.
Instead, employ second rate managers to spend millions buying second rate players and create a second rate football club.
We could have had Frank, Marco Silva or Bournemouth manager at what- cost £8 / £10 mil’ for them and their back room team.
Get this idiot out of our club, he has destroyed us !!

  • Dartmoor Mushroom says:

All we need to do now is sell Bowen, Paqueta to get ban , and this team will be UNPLAYABLE, literally, you can’t even get good odds on relegation, what a joke.

  • Dartmoor Mushroom says:

    Too young , need a 30 year old .😅

  • Ted says:

Imagine mcatee getting a tour round our training ground after being at city
He’ll think his at a league 1 club

  • OLIVER says:

West Ham are going to be introuble soon what players are going to want to come when all they do is sell the crown jewels Sullivan are taking the fans for fools

  • Rob says:

Second best you say, they are not even a good second, third or 4th. There’s no leadership from the board, this is shown by the last 3 managers they have chosen who have completely different ideas and plan to do the best for the club. You can’t change players that quick without huge investment but of course this wasn’t considered or thought through! Now we are stuck with players we don’t want on inflated wages, and have no money to buy more players suited to the new mangers style of play. Well done the board.

Getting rid of Stiedten was totally a wrong decision and its proving so right now

    • Ian says:

You may be right, but without money to spend he wouldn’t be able to do his job. Plus the owner can’t keep his nose out of things.

    • Saul says:

100% agree with this comment. It seems even this website was short sighted enough to be bemoaning Steidten and blaming him for all of these ‘terrible’ signings he made (outside of Mavropanos I can’t think of another). Easy to point fingers when things are going from bad to worse but he was the one who bought in the players who will make up most of our team again this year.

  • John Lattimore says:

McAtee isn’t the answer for me

  • Mick bering says:

Hate to say it But what a team Spurs are building under Frank’s Making us look like idiots and novices

  • Whu says:

I’d be happy with McAtee but I won’t hold my breath!

    Faith needs restoring desperately

  • Ian says:

We won’t be signing McAtee. Or any other quality young players.

  • Julian Woodhouse says:

The question really is why would someone choose us over Forest based on where the two clubs currently are?

    • Ian says:

They wouldn’t. Forest have ambition. We have nothing. So we’ll end up yet again signing past it journeymen looking for a final big payday.

  • M B says:

Can’t see us signing any of the U21 team

  • Al says:

I hope it comes quick. The fans need some good news. Feels like we’ve just been taking hits lately. I love this club but my God they make it hard some times.
