West Ham are very much back in the race for out-of-contract Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters.
The news was broken by Hammers ITK ExWHUEmployee, who revealed that West Ham are reconsidering a move for the right-back following the collapse of his proposed transfer to Besiktas in Turkey.
As a result, Claret & Hugh contacted our main Hammers source to ask if this was the case—and it was confirmed with a simple: “YES.”
As we reported last week, manager Graham Potter had initially rejected the opportunity to sign Walker-Peters, instead opting to prioritise El Hadji Malick Diouf as his first-choice wing-back option.
Now that the 20-year-old Senegalese international is signed, sealed, and delivered, the versatile KWP is being considered as a potential squad player.
Ex earlier suggested there was concern over both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diouf being unavailable mid-season due to the African Cup of Nations. As a result, Potter is believed to have reassessed the situation and given the green light for a possible deal.
Speaking to a source close to West Ham transfers, we were told within the last five minutes: “They’re definitely interested. If it happens, it will be quick.”
Get on with the much needed striker or two.
The one position that we don’t need to fill with scarles and Diouf in the squad
Hes a freebie of course we are interested Dosnt matter to Sullivan weather potter wants him or not SO THE MESS GOES ON
