West Ham Transfer Exclusive

West Ham have rejected a second opportunity to sign Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, a top transfer source has informed Claret & Hugh today.

The Bees frontman scored against Manchester United at the weekend, taking his personal tally to 18 Premier League goals this season. That puts him joint-fifth in the top-flight scoring charts, alongside teammate Bryan Mbeumo.

The 28-year-old is entering the final year of his Brentford contract and has so far refused to sign a new deal. Although there is an option to extend for another year, it would require mutual agreement between club and player.

Wissa was a target for West Ham in January, but manager Graham Potter opted not to move for him at the time, preferring to assess his existing squad before making any forward additions.

It’s now understood that West Ham have completely ruled out a move for the Congo international, with the player considered “too old” for the club’s new recruitment strategy.

The Hammers are actively seeking younger targets this summer, with an aim to reduce the average age of the squad and build for the long term.

Wissa’s goal output is impressive, but the decision reflects Potter and Kyle Macaulay’s push to prioritise younger, high-upside players over platers in their late 20’s.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here 👇👇

“New Recruitment strategy” lol – the club is still run like a circus. Appointing a 3rd Manager in 12 months who has been unemployed for 20 months and forgotten how to win. Then apparently hiring his mate who it appears has never negotiated for players or dealt with the actual transfers – you literally couldn’t make it up. West Ham obviously take us for mugs and still try and convince us they actually care about getting back in Europe. No way will I be paying to watch this crap next season.

New recruitment strategy? Whatever happened to buying someone’s services to do a job? We could do far worse than use Jamie Vardy on a rolling contract. Much better than getting an unproven 20 year old on a 5/6 year contract. That is if we are serious. If we are just in the business of selling on for profit, that is so wrong on so many levels. The new Crewe or Brighton?

I knocked back Scarlett Johansson for similar reasons.

Why the hell would Wissa want to join us ??
Don’t think it’s a case of we don’t want him, how laughable is that.
Sullivan will no doubt raid the cheap market for more rubbish to add to this rubbish team at this rubbish stadium.
Relegation looms unless we get new owners.
    Sick of it all now….
Honestly can’t remember the last time I enjoyed watching us,we are boring, tepid and just not what I was bought up watching as a West Ham fan, the academy of football has long been replaced by the laughing stock academy….joke club
    F#@k off Sullivan

  • Mick Bering says:

  • Kip says:

Another story of a player we won’t be getting. These are the only posts that you are sure of ….when there’s news on an incoming player we never get any definites ..but your happy to say 100 % not getting this player…….if you get news like this of them that your sure of ..why don’t we get good news on incoming players that you can be sure of …🤔🤔🤔

  • Phil Baker says:

Potter is so unimaginative that he’s just looking at Brighton’s rejects . It’s the beginning of the end for Westham .

  • Andrew says:

    West Ham have rejected Wissa!
    Laughable.
Why on earth would he want to leave Brentford for West Ham?

  • Macephtopheles says:

…aren’t we supposed to be seriously viewing Jamie Vardy as a potential signing?

So 28 is “too old” but I guess 38 is right in that suitable range..?

  • Gary says:

Potter blocking Wissa and signing Ferguson is another reason we should replace him and not trust him to oversee a rebuild in the summer.

    • Grow some says:

Isn’t it bad …rather sign an unfit player instead …I’ve literally given up with this club..its honestly like a fking circus and you get posts like this put on hete …joke …doom and gloom …gonzo is good at that …and he dosnt swear and keeps nice and calm just what fan’s who wear there heart on there sleeve need …..to nice and politely disect another pathetic loss….hope the protests start again to try and drive these. Owners out ..because nothing will ever change ..and this site won’t let the club see some anger posts that’s needed to be seen by the clowns that run the club

      • Gary says:

Truth is I think fans have had enough. I can’t see protests changing anything as they didn’t work before.

Sullivan will soon be left counting the cost of empty seats as the disconnect from fans prepared to watch this garbage dwindles.

        • Bennyboy baker says:

Sullivan and Brady both need to go they have overseen the club go backwards and why the answer is clear while Sullivan holds the cards nothing exciting is going to come for the fans it will always be what they can get on the cheap it’s the same old story with Sullivan towards the end of Moyes run as manager things got bad but that is nothing compared to how bad things are now it’s a complete farce someone anyone needs to take this club over and start investing in the club and bring good times back where we will be challenging for the top spots in the league and all cup competitions instead of being the but of jokes about how crap we are Sullivan should be real proud
