West Ham United are reportedly considering revisiting their interest in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, who enjoyed a breakout season under ex -manager Mauricio Pochettino.
While Chalobah emerged as a key player for Chelsea in the latter stages of the 2023-24 season, the Blues are surprisingly willing to listen to offers for the 24-year-old defender.
Initially deemed surplus to requirements last summer, Chalobah battled back from a pre-season injury to establish himself as a regular starter under Pochettino. Chelsea reportedly view Chalobah’s potential sale as an opportunity to generate a significant profit for the 2023-24 financial year.
West Ham, along with Premier League sides Nottingham Forest and Fulham, were previously linked with a move for Chalobah in the January transfer window. With the summer window approaching, the Hammers seem ready to rekindle their interest.
West Ham may not be the only club vying for Chalobah’s signature. Reports suggest European clubs are also monitoring the situation and could potentially offer more enticing options.
Chalobah remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2026 after signing a new deal in 2022.
Despite missing some time with injury, Chalobah made a positive impact in his 17 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea in the 2023-24 season, even contributing a goal.
The addition of a young and talented defender like Chalobah would be a significant boost to West Ham’s backline. The upcoming summer transfer window promises to be an interesting one for the Hammers, with Chalobah emerging as a potential target.
Perhaps David Sullivan can but into Tim Steidten’s negotiations and broker a cheaper package deal for Chelsea’s Broja, Chalobah and Gallagher? Sounds lyrical but I Guess That’s Why They Call Them the Blues. 🎼🎤
