West Ham have published their retained list to the Premier League to confirm they are releasing the registration of five players. James Collins, Patrice Evra, Korrey Henry, Rosaire Longelo, Rihards Matrevics are the five players to be released at the end of June.
While Collins and Evra need no introduction, the Academy youngsters being released are less well known.
Latvia age-group international goalkeeper Rihards Matrevics joined West Ham United on a two-year scholarship in September 2015. The 19 year old giant stopper was capped by his country at U17 and U19 levels, Matrevics was the Hammers’ regular No1 at U18 level during the 2016/17 season.
18 year old Academy winger Rosaire Longelo was at West Ham for ten years, The left-sider was a key player for the U18s last season until he picked up an injury. Described as a tricky, pacy wide player, with the ability to play at the back or in the attacking third.
Korrey Henry manage to nail down a place a Steve Potts’s U18 team last season and become one of the first names on the team sheet. Although primarily a forward he is said to be a versatile player who has played in almost every position apart from goalkeeper last season.
