West Ham United have distanced themselves from a potential move for Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.

Despite earlier suggestions linking the Hammers with the young Spanish forward, the club have now confirmed through ExWHUemployee that they are not pursuing a deal for the 20-year-old.

The 20-year-old striker’s move to Chelsea collapsed on Sunday night after the Blues tried to tinker with the agreement.

Atletico Madrid are still trying to sell him and his agents are now looking to bring other clubs into the mix.

With the recent signing of Niclas Fullkrug and the presence of Michail Antonio in the squad, West Ham appear to be well-stocked in the attacking department. The club’s focus is now likely to shift to other areas of the squad as the transfer window heads to its last few weeks: If buyers are found for players such as Ings – even for a zero fee but to cover part of his salary- then loan moves in the market to bring in a third striker would seem a possibility.

Omorodion, who has been linked with several clubs following his impressive loan spell at Deportivo Alaves, will presumably explore other options as he seeks regular first-team football.

Wolves are interested in Antonio so never say never

Funny how he got his debut under Moyes, like quite a few others, yet under our new coach he is being sent out on loan. I thought part of J-lo’s remit was to bring through the academy graduates. It seems he has already cast his net far and wide to get a lot of foreign players to fill in what he considers to be the weak areas. It doesn’t appear that any of our home grown or academy players will even get near the first team!

lops remit is to get us back into europe, not to lower the chances of doing so by depending on young players who are not ready for the division

the likes of earthy would be better served playing as much as possible against full professionals in competitive leagues

plugging a youth player from a youth team in to premier league doesn’t serve the player or the club, it is a futile endeavour unless the quality, maturity and physicality of the youth player rivals the quality of the starting 11
