West Ham Set For Phillips Reunion In Championship

Well, it could be that West Ham are set to face our former disaster loan signing in the Championship next season.

That’s because Sheffield United have approached Manchester City to explore the possibility of signing the £50 million midfielder.

Wilder Wants Phillips Reunion

Phillips spent the second half of last season on loan with the Blades and developed a strong relationship with manager Chris Wilder, despite his playing time being curtailed by injury.

The midfielder’s career has nosedived since his big-money move from Leeds United to Manchester City and he remains a long way from the player who once partnered Declan Rice in Gareth Southgate’s England midfield.

Wilder, however, is keen to be reunited with Phillips and believes he can help revive the midfielder’s fortunes.

West Ham Spell Was One To Forget

Phillips’ loan spell at West Ham was nothing short of a disaster.

His brief time at the London Stadium was littered with mistakes, disciplinary issues and poor performances.

Many supporters will also remember the incident where he swore at West Ham fans while boarding the team bus following a match.

Now, with Sheffield United exploring a permanent move, there is every chance Phillips could find himself lining up against the Hammers next season as he looks to get his injury-hit career back on track.
