I’ll bet few of the 50,000 plus West Ham fans who crossed their fingers and renewed their season tickets in June and July expected quite such a show to be put on in front of them this early – if at all – in the Hammers’ Championship campaign.
The highs and lows of the summer, from Sullivan’s resignation through the ‘Kretinsky statement’ to the sale of favourite players like Summerville, Potts and Fernandes, were put in proper context by events on the pitch last night.
Apart from the style of the Wrexham demolition (which still sounds good the next day) Nuno’s West Ham achieved a very special ‘first’ in the club’s 131 year history, according to Yahoo Sports:
“To win 6-0 over anyone is great, but do so over what could be a promotion rival is all the more impressive.
An added element to the win saw the hosts win with six different goalscorers getting in on the act.
They helped to make history for West Ham as the first time in their 131-year history that they’ve had six different scorers in a single match.”
So, Jarrod Bowen, Joel Piroe, Dinos Mavropanos, Taty Castellanos, Mohamadou Kanté and Manor Solomon, take a bow.

Six different scorers in one evening – a new ‘first’ for West Ham United
Somewhere, there needs to be a plaque or a special image which becomes part of the London Stadium wall art to commemorate the feat which has never been accomplished by a West Ham team until last night.
And after the troubling summer that players, coaches, support staff and fans have endured, it is only right that it should be celebrated.
At least until Monday.
Fulham will do their best to bring us all back down to earth in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening but Nuno will no doubt give half a dozen of ‘the youngsters’ another opportunity as he did against Southampton. So, lots to relish, frankly, whatever the outcome.
And whatever happens in that game, the Irons will be licking their lips at the prospect of next weekend’s game at Millwall if they can replicate even briefly last night’s scintillating form.
As will our supporters!
Yes congratulations to our Champion goalscorers they did the Club proud. Though remember it was a home match in the pleasant early autumn weather. I have the belief and hope that this blitzkrieg will continue all the way until this season’s completion. At season’s end this important milestone can be reflected on, now at this point in our season the next match is far to important to get distracted. When Fulham fall to the new rejuvenated Irons every football fan in GB will understand that WHU are on the cusp of an exciting season.
It looks like Nuno responded to the burnley and Charlton letdowns, there’s no reason to sit back and see out any games in this division.
Just attack and beat them all
We shall see

I was at Upton Park on 20th December, 1958 when West Ham beat Portsmouth 6-0. I was twelve years old and parked right down the front. Ernie Gregory, our goalie, had very little to do. Pompey’s No 6 was Jimmy Dickinson, an English international and a real gentleman.
50,000 STH still remaining duped and mis-sold their seats Martin? It did not sound like it against Hollywood Wrexham at our beloved London Stadium.
Embrace these moments and forget the gripes. Life is so short. Enjoy Irons to the full.
Cheers MT and COYI
our London Stadium is NOT “beloved” by anyone. why do all your posts read like a WH Public Relations officer? 🤔 is it because maybe…..?
It was a great performance and unexpected in the main, though I think Wrexham have gone backwards, a lot of their fans think so too. The division is poor and tbh,we could have done that against most of the teams we have played. Wrong tactics,to defensive and selections.
I fully expect Southampton,Middlesbrough and Wolves to be our only rivals.
We have the best XI in the league and on the bench the youth are only going to get better with more minutes. Let’s hope Nuno keeps being positive

A truly great performance, which I hope will continue. But, I doubt that Wrexham will be “promotion rivals”. They were pretty poor ; mind you, a lot of that was down to West Ham being so good. Congratulations to Nuno & the team, & long may it continue – until the final day of the season & promotion, I hope. After the first 3 games I was pretty despondent, & had largely written them off ; but the team is rapidly putting everything together & looking a class above every other team I have seen. Millwall will be the acid test – if we play like last night, then everything will look very rosy indeed.
