West Ham appear to be ramping up their Black Friday sales as forgotten winger Maxwel Cornet nears a Hammers exit.

The former £17 million Burnley winger has not enjoyed the best of times at the London Stadium, and it now appears the club is willing to accept a cut-price deal to offload the player.

There is interest from the Süper Lig in Turkey; however, club sources have indicated that they expect to receive nowhere near the transfer fee paid to the Clarets two years ago.

Cash flow at West Ham is tight following an unprecedented transfer spending spree, and it is understood that the club is looking to offload at least one player before committing to the signing of PSG’s Carlos Soler.

Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, and Danny Ings remain on the transfer chopping block, but Cornet looks closest to a Hammers exit at this stage.

As reported earlier, Brazilian defender Luizão also seems primed for a Hammers exit, but the removal of his wages will not make much of a dent in the club’s finances.

Cornet arrived two years ago for 15 million. Depending on the payments we have made he is probably on the books for half that. Sell him for more than say 8 and we may well show a profit for PSR purposes and that is what matters.

Who in their right mind would buy Cornet?
He has consistently shown himself to be utterly useless

    • John Ayris says:

At premier league level yes. Someone playing in a lower standard league will buy him.

  • John Ayris says:

Cornet is a big disappointment. £17M was his value two years ago though.

He signed a five year deal and has been here for two years so will have been amortised (written down) by two fifths of that so he will be valued at £10.2M on the books.

He is likely to raise something, however much less than £10.2M would be a loss.

Even I’ve given up on him now so I don’t think he has anything to add. Best that he’s off the wage bill and frees up a squad place.

    Erm Gonzo,
Are you sure that’s the right headline when mentioning cornet?

    • Dan says:

Yes it’s fine because it’s nothing to do with race, it’s purely about the fact we’re selling him on the cheap. Stop trying to stir up a race row that only exists in your head!!

  • michael cash says:

We will be stuck with Zouma,Cornet and Ings barring an act of God

  • Katie says:

I don’t think calling Cornet “Black Friday” is entirely appropriate.

Believe it when I see it
