West Ham set to win £22m race – report

West Ham are set to win the £22m race to sign Hull City star Jarrod Bowen, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The reliable journalist tweeted in the early hours of deadline day.

The Hammers are said to have agreed a deal worth £14m up front plus £8m in add-ons and Bowen is keen on the move.

He is subsequently set to have his medical later on Friday, with the east Londoners beating out competition from Crystal Palace to bring him into the club.

Bowen has enjoyed an exceptional season at Championship level, scoring 17 goals in all competitions, and his signing is something of a coup for West Ham.

The 23-year-old has spent six years at Hull, making 131 appearances and scoring 54 goals, while also providing 14 assists.

A right winger by nature, Bowen can also play through the middle and could inject some energy and dynamism into David Moyes’ front line at The London Stadium if the signing is completed.

  1. This would be an excellent signing, young, talented and English. He’d make Haller up his game and knows how to score.

  2. Well always happy to be proved wrong over something like this, although I am not sure I have even seen him play (& I have watched Hull a couple times). But that could be my lack of observation skills. Was it him or another rumour target that I saw had hardly missed a game. That would be a real bonus, although avoiding the West Ham serious injury jinx could be a challenge.

Anyway believe it when I see it….
