West Ham sets new European record

West Ham have set a new record in European football,  being the  only team in Europe’s top five leagues to have not lost a game by more than one goal in their last 40 competitive games.

What a change around since David Moyes re-joined the Hammers and what a testament to his work with his players.

You have to go back almost a year to last January to find the last time the Hammers were beaten by more than one goal and that was Liverpool at the London Stadium on 31st January when we lost 3-1.

Before that it was a Chelsea 3-0 away loss last year in December 2020.

Moyes rejoined the Hammers for his second stint as manager at the end of 2019 and has instilled a defensive mentality in West Ham whilst decveloping an exciting counter attacking policy, the like of which we have rarely seen in the past.

How far can he take this European record run?

  1. Makes me nostalgic for the old days and 6-0 thumping away at the hands of someone like Oldham or Reading….. That’s the West Ham way…..

  2. I’m trying to forget that today is the 50th Anniversary of the start of that League Cup semi-final saga with Stoke that ended in tears .. Now someone has reminded me of the St Valentine’s Day Massacre! ..
