West Ham sign specialist man marker

South American football expert Tim Vickery says West Ham have signed a specialist man marker in Carlos Sanchez.

Speaking on Twitter the BBC Brazil man said “Carlos Sanchez might be just past his peak, and offers little on the ball. But as a defensive midfielder, West Ham have signed a specialist man marker”

The 32-year old joined West Ham yesterday afternoon from Fiorentina on a two year contract with an option for another year as West Ham’s tenth and final signing of the Summer.

Sanchez spent the second half of last season on loan at Espanyol, where he made 14 appearances. The former Aston Villa midfielder is a regular for Colombia and was part of the side that lost on penalties to England at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

  1. I like Tim Vickery, always does great columns, knows more about South American football than anyone else I have heard from Europe, lets see what Sanchez can do, he can man mark Salah in the first game 😉
