West Ham sixth signing is imminent

The cat is out of the bag again as the club plan to announce their sixth signing of the summer in the form of centre-back Fabian Balbuena.

West Ham Italy on Twitter posted a photo inside the London Stadium club store of two shirts with the name Balbuena on the back as they prepare for their next announcement.

Earlier this week Brazilian side Corinthians confirmed West Ham met the release clause for defender Fabian Balbuena and he would make his way to London for a medical.

Manuel Pellegrini was looking to sign another centre-half after the capture of 21-year-old Issa Diop earlier the summer on a club-record deal and the Paraguayan international is seemingly the manager and Mario Husillos’ choice after being offered the chance by a South American agent for the release clause of £3.5m.

  1. Two top centre backs and hoping Oxford as back up too. Pay off sick note joke Carroll and get Reid fit and sell in Jan job done

    • Job done ?? . The Premiership is an ongoing forever job and it is never over , razor .
      You can only do what the tools allow . One tool in my box would be a very sharp chisel called Carroll ,and , unfortunately it is blunted for now ( and always it would seem ) but can be resharpened . Reid is a ongoing injury just as Carroll but I don’t see anyone criticizing him . Carroll scores goals and Reid doesn’t!!! Need I say more ? .
      The forever challenging Premiership League is a massive battle for all clubs concerned and we must maintain our edge if we are to not only survive it but to finish it with our heads held high . Take a look for a moment at the recent signings and wish list of Pellegrini;;
      The obvious replacements are for Reid , not for Carroll . I agree he is a constant sick note but he is a player not to be ignored . I would hate to see another Premiership Club attacking us with Carroll up front . In fact ,,,, England were missing a Carroll in many of Thier arial crosses . If Carroll was fit and selected the World Cup would be ours .

  2. Could turn out to be the bargain of the summer if he is as good as he looks and from the reviews from Brazil COYI !!!

  3. Potentially very excited by this signing, with Diop, Rice and Ogbanna – four great options to play even 3 at the back. I think we are set up now to play 3 at the back. I would certainly keep Reid unless we can sign Marcelo. We now need Anderson to sign, then go after one more midflelder and a centre forward !!

  4. Assuming MP has a specific formation in mind, it will be interesting to know how he specified his targets….

    • Its strange 4FF isn’t it that we haven’t yet gone for any out and out ball winners in defensive midfield unless Pelle thinks he can convert one of our existing players (Rice maybe or Zaba) into the role ?

  5. I am totally fed up with people saying “if Carroll could stay fit” etc etc. We’ve been hearing it for years and years. He can’t period. Some will undoubtedly want to extend his contract next year. Just let him go and we can move on from what has, quite frankly, been a nightmare. His meagre 50 odd goals have cost us something like 300 grand each. Enough. Move on.
