Reports that Lucas Paquetá may play his final game for West Ham against Everton have been dismissed by a Claret & Hugh source.

The Brazilian’s FA hearing for alleged betting breaches begins next week and is expected to last two to three weeks. If found guilty, any potential punishment could take a similar amount of time to be determined.

Recent reports have suggested that Saturday’s Premier League clash against David Moyes’ Everton could be his last. The Football Association is reportedly pushing for a lifetime ban following a series of yellow cards awarded to Paquetá, which coincided with irregular betting patterns in Brazil.

The FA investigation has been running alongside a separate case in Brazil, where Paquetá’s uncle, Bruno Toledo, has been charged with betting irregularities.

However, a Claret & Hugh source stated this evening: “Lucas will continue to play.”

The insider added: “He [Paquetá] has been available throughout this situation. He has no intention of stopping while the hearing is ongoing.”
