Guardian journalist and West Ham fan Jacob Steinberg has been a busy boy today and, in his latest column, has provided an update on the Lucas Paquetá situation.
According to Steinberg, the Hammers are planning to use any money from a potential Paquetá move to Flamengo on reinforcements in this transfer window.
I have to say the recent lack of activity had convinced me that West Ham had pretty much given up on further additions. Having lost the must-win game against Nottingham Forest, I had begun to wonder whether attention had already turned to next season in the Championship, rather than one last splash-and-dash in the Premier League.
Late Window Gamble Still on the Cards
But not so, according to Steinberg, who earlier reported that the Hammers were trying to line up a buy-to-loan deal with Flamengo. That scenario would see Paquetá spend the remainder of the season at the London Stadium.
Were that not to happen, then any proceeds, it seems, would be spent trying to play catch-up with the rest of the breakaway Premier League.
Sell before buy even at this stage?
These ******* deserve to lose their investments in the club when we are relegated
Still unsure why we needed two forward players.
Pablo looks like he won a competition. Would it not have been wiser to sign Taty and then focus on a CB.
I’ll be at the game Saturday but planning to put some money on Gallagher scoring as that is nailed on.
Pablo looked like a striker being asked to play as a midfielder to me.
Have Flamengo got any young players we might want? We could come to some sort of arrangement I’m sure.
But they have just spent quite a lot of money roughly 50 million on 2 mediocre players what are they expecting by selling our best player for about 30 million. It’s hardly gonna be a splurge
Paqueta isn’t going to be some single handed saviour, but a couple of decent signings could make a difference…
