Reports that Graham Potter turned down a short-term contract yesterday to manage West Ham which gave Julen Lopetegui a stay of execution have been flatly denied by a club insider this morning.

While there has been dialogue with Potter’s people it appears to be an early stage and not at a point where a short-term offer has been made to him or anyone else at this stage.

Lopetegui had been widely expected to be dismissed yesterday after it became clear the board were due to meet about the head coach’s future.

Potter is thought to be one of many coaches approached through intermediaries about their availability and willingness to take the role should Lopetegui be relieved of his West Ham duties.

Yesterday the West Ham board shareholders met virtually via Zoom and unanimously agreed to leave Lopetegui in charge for Monday night’s game against Wolves.

The board hope the results will improve and the next five games will be crucial for Lopetegui’s survival, but a decision could come sooner than that if bad results persist.

Clive your right, back in the day West Ham would win a game maybe 4. 0 then loose by a similar score the following week, but they were entertaining to watch, we also had one of the best academy’s in the country, what’s gone wrong, apart from Dec Rice who else has been allowed to flourish?

This is beyond belief, can the board not see what everyone else can, he is totally useless the worst manager this club has had, I’ve been supporting this club since the early 60s and I’ve never been so fed up with the whole situation, we are a complete laughing stock to anyone with any knowledge of how to run a football club.

Sounds to me like Sullivan wants us to be in the bottom three before he sacks Jlo, because the pay off will be less, he couldn’t run a **** up in a brewery, I wish he would retire, I saw my first West Ham game on the chicken run in 1963, I have claret and blue blood, results affect my moods on a daily basis, all I ask is a team that works hard, entertains, owners that care, and a manager who is a winner, Please, COYI

Just keep thinking back to Nobes interview at the end of the last game at Upton Park “This club ain’t run like a circus anymore”. Love to know what he thinks now?

Complete shambles of a club and the board seems deaf to our loyal fans and their views. Sullivan baulks at spending £9 million on bringing in the type of ambitious highly tactical modern manager we desperately need after largely wasting £140 million on new players. Exceptions being Wan Bissaka, Summerville, and previous season Kudus. As for the rest I personally don’t rate any of them. Really rated Tim when he joined but beginning to have my doubts after some of his buys, but to be fair wonder just how much backing he is actually getting. Board bottled it again yesterday giving one more game yet again to save his job against the worst team in the league which proves absolutely nothing. Fans need to make it very clear to the board and tv cameras on Monday night we have had enough!

What a total load of b******s.
Are the board members mentally unstable ?
Turn what around, exactly – you’ve got to be facing the right way in the first place !!
The man is hopeless, incompetent, clueless and way out of his depth.
What a complete and utter shambles this so-called football club is.
Come on Wanderers, give us a pasting on Monday !
Oh, the board will say well they had three breakaways and scored, we had 20 shots and couldn’t score – so very unlucky ! If we’re 10 points adrift at the bottom of the table at Christmas we might think about getting Moyes back !!! W*****s…….

So we have gone from the next game being a must win, to him being given 5 games! What are the parameters for success then Sean? Win one of the next 5 games and he’s safe even if we get battered in the others, the idea that this is a proper way to run a football club is laughable and I really hope the fans make their feelings known to the owners and the rest of the footballing world on Monday. Just stay away and embarrass the whole board for their ineptitude. I’d love to know how bad the performances have to get before they take the action we all know they should have taken weeks ago.

The current situation is as if insane. Beyond incompetence as if insanity. Lopetegui looked dishevelled with tics and twitches galore against Leicester. The whole situation is a frankly beyond any belief, shambles, fiasco, debacle.

  • Tom says:

When will this farce end . It’s gone from 1 game too 5 games . How not to run a football club. Just Boycott the game. Enough is enough. Sullivan is a boil that needs to lanced. This club are a joke and an embarrassment.
