It would appear the West Ham purge of all things Tim Steidten is set to continue in January, with yet another of his transfers likely to leave the club.
This time, it’s the turn of £20 million teenager Luis Guilherme, who has failed to live up to expectations in East London. But to be fair, he hasn’t exactly been given much of a chance.
Speaking to a reliable transfer source today, Claret & Hugh were told: “It looks like his time is up.”
Our source continued: “The next few games will reveal a lot. If he doesn’t get a chance with Füllkrug out and the team crying out for pace, he’ll stand no chance after the transfer window.”
Lack of Game Time Could Seal Exit
Guilherme hasn’t had much of an opportunity under either Julen Lopetegui or Graham Potter, and it’s too early to tell what Nuno Espirito Santo will decide. As our source has pointed out repeatedly, West Ham rejected the chance to offload the Brazilian wonderkid to Flamengo last January for almost the same fee they paid.
A top club source told Claret & Hugh at the time that “Tim [Steidten] overpaid for Guilherme,” so it’s fair to assume little has changed at the club since then.
There are a number of players on the for-sale list this January, and unless Guilherme gets some first-team action immediately, it looks increasingly likely he’ll be off. Our source added:
“There is still interest in Brazil.”

Feel sorry for him. Never given a chance. Why do managers keep picking over the hill expensive players above young talent which Guilherme certainly has !!
Big shame
He just has not been given a chance
I think he is going to prove everyone wrong and be an exceptional player
What, from what you have seen of him, makes you think that Sue?
Good player wasted, nothing new hear .
So to cut a long story short what you’re saying is if Nuno doesn’t play him he’s going to be sold in January. I suspect there is also a feeling among the new first team coaching staff that our young foreign import is also blocking the path of certain young homegrown academy players.
We do this all the time, overpay for promise or take has beens on huge wages. If we are paying up for promise, keep them and develop that talent over time. Don’t expect miracles from a kid out of a very different league in a foreign country and a completely different footballing and living culture. Nurture them and help them don’t throw away the talent and the loss so soon. It’s simply not good business if you look at it in terms of financial but it’s even worse on a football and human level. BS need to go and at the very least for now step back from anything player related.
