West Ham United have received another familiar “here we go” from Fabrizio Romano today, with confirmation that a deal to sign Adama Traoré is in place.
However, Claret & Hugh have learned this afternoon that reports suggesting a £4 million transfer fee are wide of the mark.
Romano posted on social media this morning: “West Ham reach verbal agreement to sign Adama Traoré, here we go!
Deal in place with documents to exchange and medical tests to follow next.
Guido Rodríguez will leave to join Valencia and Adama joins West Ham.”
When Claret & Hugh spoke to a top transfer source earlier today to clarify how much West Ham would need to pay Fulham for Traoré, the response was blunt:
“Nothing unless they stay up.”
Fee Hinges on Premier League Survival
It means any transfer fee is heavily incentivised and only becomes payable if West Ham avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The move has been delayed in recent days, with Fulham keen to save on Traoré’s wages and now prepared to release him following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Where does traore play though? Hes a right winger and Bowen is irreplaceable surely.
Is this another w ham stroke pushing to far taking the mick WELL THE DEAL IS OFF
Would be a fantastic deal , he’s pacey . We still need a CB for balance . DS if Cresswell is available and Nuno approves please pay the cash for once . Great result today wow what a team performance ⚒
Why can’t the owners and their mates just let us enjoy our day after that fantastic result? But no, you always have to rain on our parade with news like this 🤣
On a day with a great win it’s spoilt by hearing Traore is joining 😡
I just don’t see what he can offer us that we don’t already have.
Experience and squad depth. We don’t have any credible backup for Bowen or Summerville.
Need to sign 2 defenders and Yaser Asprilla who will add cover.
Soucek also played c/bk in his own country but preferred to be more forward.
