October 31st is best known for Halloween festivities, but it also marked two years since Vanessa Gold announced her intention to sell her late father David Gold’s shares to the “right partner,” appointing Rothschild & Co to oversee the search.
Now, in December 2025, Gold remains without a buyer for her 25% stake in West Ham United.
We approached a source at the club earlier today for an update on the sale of Vanessa’s stake, yet sadly they remained tight-lipped.
Ownership of the club remains tangled. Alan Nixon has reported that co-owner David Sullivan has been linked with a move to Cheshire, though there are suggestions he will retain his Essex base, with no indication he plans to step aside.
Investors come and go, but the boardroom stays the same
Potential investors have come and gone. Last year, reports circulated that basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal was interested in acquiring a stake, but insiders at West Ham confirmed no direct talks ever took place. Earlier this year, Claret & Hugh noted foreign investors touring the training facilities, though this is now thought to have been Monarch Collective, who were exploring a £55m deal for a 49% stake in the women’s team. No formal announcement has followed.
Daniel Křetínský, the second-largest shareholder with 27%, holds an option to take control but has shown little appetite to expand his holding. Meanwhile, minority shareholder Albert Tripp Smith has been actively seeking new investment. The club’s purported valuation—around £800m, roughly three times what Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund paid for Newcastle United—may be deterring suitors.
Vice-chair Karren Brady has previously argued that Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and regulatory hurdles discouraged investment. Yet with the Squad Cost Ratio set to be introduced next season, restrictions have eased. Brady’s stance also appears at odds with the significant investments made by Bill Foley at Bournemouth and Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Manchester United.
For now, West Ham supporters must remain patient. With Premier League survival uncertain and ownership rumours swirling, Rothschild & Co are still searching for a buyer for Gold’s stake—two years after the process began, and with fan protests against the current board showing no signs of slowing down.

Do Rothschild & Co have any contacts with the protesting gangs and their financial clout?
Win win if these people could meet Matt.
I do feel we need to concentrate on 2 good strikers which have been playing regular football for their teams. We have some good youngster to ease in as well.Midfield I think we have plenty to choose from, need to offload a few who are not playing in Rodriquez, Ward Prowse,Irving.
Let’s get shot of Fulkrug,Kilman and Cornet think we should keep Gulhimere he will become good, let him have a run in the reserves rather than on the bench to build his confidence
Things are looking good on the players coming through.
Need to make sure we don’t get relegated at al costs because Nuno can make a great team with a few additions and what we have already

If you were talking about a market stall what had a small bit of fruit and veg what was going off, the solution is simple, this is a massive football club, multi million pound investors and their like seem to listen to non football experienced people right now, look at the mistakes made at Newcastle, Chelsea, Spurs. I think this manager in time will make us a better club if he’s given a few quid for his own choices.
David Sullivan is the curse of West Ham United – as he WAS for Birmingham City FC
Sullivan will never let go of West Ham he loves the status too much, probably earning a fortune on the interest on his debt the club owes him. As for Vanessa Gold, Kretinsky or Sullivan could buy those shares or Tripp Smith if he wanted too. None of them want to and no one is going to buy shares with Sullivan mismanaging the club transfers.
I will but them for a grand lol
A club run by the 3 stooges what a joke we are. We all know how obnoxious the top man and his sidekick are but anyone who thinks DK is some sort of knight in shining armour is deluded. His sole and only interest is his personal gain. He has no interest in the fans or the club. One of my mates has a chech girlfriend and she says he is hated by Sparta Prague fans. They were originally the big club in Prague but Slavia have over taken them and a lot is put down to the lack of investment from DK .
