With all this talk of players leaving if relegation strikes, it is quite reassuring to be able to seek out a report of a new young midfielder who the Hammers are targeting for next season, irrespective of the league they’re playing in. Apparently.
The air of doom and gloom since the events of last weekend is palpable and nothing is more welcome than something positive to report. With three games left this season and Spurs now in the box seat to avoid relegation and send the Hammers down, seeing a couple of reports concerning West Ham’s interest in young midfielder Jordan James felt like a little bright light at the end of a very dark tunnel .
Of course, if the Hammers have a large scale exodus, half a dozen players (at least) will need bringing on to help the side fight a promotion campaign in what is a ferociously unforgiving second tier of English football.

Jordan James – acquitted himself well in Leicester City’s midfield role
The Leicester midfielder James, who has been on loan at the Foxes from his parent club Rennes, has been attracting interest from several sides and the Hammers are reported to be at the forefront.
As footballleagueworld.co.uk reported:
“James’ Leicester performances prove that he is capable of playing for a side who are battling for promotion to the Premier League, rather than for a club who are worried about the prospect of relegation to League One.”
11 goals and 4 assists in the championship – despite Leicester’s relegation to the third tier – shows a level of grit and character from the young Welsh international who, at just 21, is exactly the kind of championship-hardened player that West Ham should be looking for to help climb the greasy pole back out of the division should relegation befall them later this month.
Sounds like a future quiz question. Name the player who played for a premiership side who got relegated 2 seasons in a row only to sign for another club who did exactly the same !
