West Ham are reportedly locked in a transfer battle with AS Monaco for OH Leuven’s Ezechiel Banzuzi.

In an unexpected twist, Monaco are also targeting West Ham’s Edson Alvarez, creating a transfer stand-off between the clubs over Banzuzi. The Belgian midfielder’s agent has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Monaco.

Monaco, however, still need to finalise a deal with OH Leuven. with some reports indicating they are scheduled to meet the Belgian club with a €13m offer.

The French side appear to be in the driving seat but are said to “fear” West Ham’s ability to hijack the move. The delay in Graham Potter’s appointment as West Ham manager may have handed Monaco an early advantage, but Potter has been actively advising on potential signings in recent days.

It remains unclear whether Potter has specifically instructed the club to pursue the 19-year-old Banzuzi. However, Claret & Hugh sources indicate that the new manager is aligned with the club’s strategy of adding pace to the midfield.

Leicester City have dropped out of the race, but West Ham are still hopeful of stealing Banzuzi from Monaco’s grasp. Although some reports suggest the Hammers have already agreed a deal, this seems unlikely given the flurry of activity at the London Stadium. Claret & Hugh understands that West Ham are keen to act quickly on their transfer targets

I am hopeful Potter and his team will make the most of our talents in the squad, and will improve players and coach them – existing underperformers and young players alike. Moyes had been able to do that before – converting Antonio from a right back and that Austrian striker who started as a winger. Somehow that stopped with Moyes. Cant expect the transfer window to provide ready made fix it solutions. Time for coaches to start…coaching.

How many players did Steidten bring in last window ? Kilman, Summerville, Fullkrug, Guilherme, AWB, Rodiguez, Foderingham, Kante, Soler, I think it was nine plus he dealt with outgoings.

I’ve just checked the length of the window it was June 14 to August 30 so 77 days. 77/9 = 8.5

Steidten brought in a player every eight and a half days during the last window can hardly be said that he hangs about.

Well, West Ham have a track record of quick transfer deals…..

Not a mention of Tim Steidten
