West Ham United are continuing t explore defensive options in Italy, with AC Milan duo Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw on their radar.

As reported yesterday, Tomori has become an option to partner big money buy Max Kilman following the breakdown of talks for Jean-Clair Todibo. Tomori almost joined West Ham on loan during from Chelsea during David Moyes stint as manager but was unable to get assurances about first team football.

It is understood that Julen Lopetegui’s side have approached Milan with an enquiry about Thiaw, 22, before entering discussions about Tomori, who is open to a Premier League return.

The Hammers are keen to strengthen their backline following a really disappointing defensive campaign last season. Despite the arrival of Max Kilman from Wolves, manager Julen Lopetegui is looking to add further depth and quality to his squad.

Tomori, a former Chelsea player, has impressed in Serie A, but his price tag (£35m)  could prove prohibitive. The younger Thiaw is also attracting interest, with the German defender seen as a promising talent.

With the transfer window still open, West Ham face competition for both players. However, the club are determined to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new Premier League season.
