Fabian Balbuena and Javier Hernandez remain injured and have not travelled to Burnley Claret and Hugh understands.

Although Marko Arnautovic was scheduled to return for the Burnley game, he has travelled with the team to Burnley but is likely to be restricted to the bench for now possibly getting some minutes on the pitch in the second half.

It is hoped that Pablo Zabaleta has recovered enough from his illness earlier this week to resume his right back role. Aaron Cresswell is likely to retain his left-back starting role after a good performance against Southampton keeping Arthur Masuaku out of contention.

Skipper Mark Noble may also return to replace Pedro Obiang in midfield after a less than convincing display by the Spanish player.

Felipe Anderson suffered a knock in the second half against the Saints but is hoped to pass a fitness test to play on Sunday.

There is a chance he could start Andy Carroll to replace Lucas Perez who scuffed his chance in front of goal earlier this week or possibly play Carroll up with Perez instead of Antonio.

Putting all of those permutations into the mix the likely team Manuel Pellegrini could put out could be:  Fabianski, Zabaleta, Ogbonna, Diop, Cresswell, Rice, Noble, Anderson, Snodgrass, Antonio, Perez.

Compared to the dross our captain has been serving up Obiang’s performance was not “less than convincing”
Give the man a chance . He cannot possibly be worse .

Here we go.. Bubbles. If your comments were reality it’s funny how pellegrini plays him isn’t it. Yet you know better in your opinion. Your comments are so boring pal, and no offence but your talking rubbish.. I honestly don’t know what your problem is.

  • Hammerkip says:

They said Arnie had an outside chance to play against soton but instead they will save him for the Burnley now there saying he might not play at al! At Burnley….ffs it really winds me up when they say this crap

Give it a rest , Bubbles . Goodness sake .

Given Wolves crazy Wimbledon of old performance against Spurs West Ham will need to be on Thier toes for the Burnley game . We have the quality but , as Wolves just showed against Spurs it’s not always enough . It was sheer determination that won them that game .

Every day I thank my lucky stars that Mr West Ham, Mark Noble, is our captain and Bubbles has nothing whatsoever to do with the management of our team.

    • Hammersone says:

Well said Clive. I love Nobes and everything he represents. Unfortunately there is always someone like a bubbles character, that spouts rubbish. You always get the odd village idiot I’m afraid. Enough said.

  • Shogan says:

Hear Hear Kevin & Clive re bubbles who seems to be only fart bubbles at best!!

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

I think Arnie will start alongside Antonio COYI!!!

I am not one to dig out West Ham players – and I appreciate what Noble does for the team and it would be good to have him back for Burnley

However I watched the game against Saints on TV and felt that Obiang did quite well and helped out a lot defensively

We talk of a squad game – that needs more than 11 players to be performing

Nobes is good because he is good not because Pedro did not perform against Saints – as I feel that in fact he did perform

  • Muckracker says:

I agree with bubbles. There is no way Obiang’s performance could be termed less than convincing. Rice and him kept things tight and our midfield was not overrun as often happens. And if Cressie did enough to retain his place, so did Obiang. Objectively speaking

    • Hammersone says:

I would say Cresswell was very good against the saints whereas Obiang was ok. We did get overrun a few times and they had several chances. However we were the better side on the night and took our chances. Anyway bubbles comments about the captain serving up dross is just wrong. You must be the only one in agreement.
