West Ham are reported to be locked in a three-way transfer battle for Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, with Everton and Tottenham Hotspur also in the mix.

The Hammers have been long-time admirers of the former Spurs graduate, but walked away from negotiations in July last year after Southampton demanded Ā£25 million—a fee considered far too steep with just 12 months left on his contract.

Instead, West Ham prioritised the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has since been a revelation at right wing-back.

However, talks with Walker-Peters never completely ended, and Claret & Hugh understands that the club have a deal in principle to sign the 28-year-old once he becomes a free agent at the end of the month.

Interest in the player appeared to cool following Graham Potter’s appointment, but West Ham now appear firmly back in the frame. That said, we’ll face competition from Everton, who are seeking replacements for Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, and Tottenham, who may be keen on a reunion.

Like Wan Bissaka, KWP can play at both left and right wing back and therefore having both in the squad should not be discounted.

Imagine! 2 German’s aligned on recruitment, wouldn’t have wasted Ā£40m on Kilman, signed the donkey that is Rodriguez, could’ve signed Dhuran, play exciting football, win a trophy and be back in Europe.

    So… which is it?

If “Claret & Hugh understands that the club have a deal in principle to sign the 28-year-old once he becomes a free agent” then, contextually, that means that “in principle” simply means it cannot be finalised yet as he cannot legally sign for us while still contracted to Southampton.

So how can “Everton and Tottenham Hotspur also [be] in the mix” there?

It’s the same as when City were looking to sign Paqueta and he’d agreed a “contract in principle” with them but (as we know) the disciplinary stuff put an end to that.

You can put your shirt on it if there’s someone else in for him Sullivan will somehow cock this up have no faith in him and his dithering ways when it comes to transfers between him and Moyes the amount of great players that slipped through our grasp is frankly amateurish and poor

Unless it’s a freebie they will dither and tell everyone that there buying a player. There hoping someone else comes in and gets them making it look like there trying to buy players. They have always done this
