West Ham ticketing fail highlighted | Magpies fans get ‘tickets easy’ in home sections

It has long been a complaint from  West Ham United supporters that the ticketing systems and sales policy allow away fans into the ‘home’ sections at London Stadium. The pretty ineffective, pointless banning of so called ‘half and half’ scarves before the Tottenham fixture was West Ham’s response -as if ‘away’ supporters aren’t capable of hiding themselves a little better.

An article by a Newcastle United fan site shows how soft the West Ham system of e-ticketing is, and how open to abuse the whole club ticket sales process is: Indeed the whole article is somewhat embarrassingly headed:

Tickets easy at West Ham and Brighton”...before detailing the total lack of control over away fans sitting in the ‘home’ end. A recipe for crowd unrest if ever there was one. Some clubs have free membership schemes, some paid, West Ham have – nothing. As the article confirms, getting tickets at West Ham is simple:
“I went to West Ham a season ago to watch Newcastle and had a ticket easily purchased. A bit like paying in at the turnstile but in advance, no checks or membership required. I was in the main West Ham end, their equivalent I would say of the Gallowgate corner.

And of course, this info is now published on a Newcastle United supporters’ page so hundreds or perhaps thousands of Magpies fans have carte blanche to do exactly the same as countless other clubs and find their own tickets in the ‘home’ supporter end. All part of the reason why there is such a poor atmosphere at ‘our’ stadium – which, incidentally, the same fan describes as “West Ham’s dysfunctional carbuncle of a stadium”. Urgent change required.

Another way in which ‘our’ club and ‘our’ supporters are being undermined. Tickets flogged off to tourists and sold to away fans outside of their now designated areas; Not only bad for the home supporters but potentially a disaster waiting to happen. What is the point in the club building the much- hated ‘wall’ between home and away fans and then allowing ‘anyone’ into the home areas?

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

A game of football is not war. If there are seats available they should be sold to anyone prepared to pay.

If those people turn out to be violent terrorists, then they should be dealt with appropriately at the time of the game.

If they just want to watch their team playing football, allow them to do so in an environment of friendly rivalry.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Wait til next season when Millwall come over the river, be absolute carnage

This just shows up the club and the stadium for what it is now, absolute crap.
And it wont get any better as more and more ‘old school supporters’ will just stop going as I have. At best the london stadium is now a neutral venue for us, far better going away as it has been for years now
