West Ham tracking Coufal replacement

West Ham tracking Coufal replacement

West Ham United are eyeing Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo as a potential replacement for Vladimir Coufal. The former Barcelona full-back’s contract expires in the summer of 2025 and Wolves may be tempted to do business in January according to numerous reports.

Despite Coufal’s recent stellar performances, the Hammers face a significant depth issue at full-back. The addition of Edson Alvarez has fortified the defence, providing their full-backs more freedom to join the attack more regularly. This tweak in tactics could make an attacking right back like Semedo an appealing prospect for gaffer David Moyes.

West Ham tracking Coufal replacement? The Czech full back has been in great form this season.

However, Wolves willingness to part with Semedo remains uncertain and I’m not entirely sure this particular rumour is too likely.

However, Moyes has used Ben Johnson recently and there is even talk of extending his contract. Yet only 4 weeks ago the clubs were leaking that both he and Connor Coventry would not be offered new deals. This demonstrates the lack of depth in defensive wide positions. A situation which may force West Ham back into the transfer market.
