West Ham boss Graham Potter is urging the club to step up their pursuit of Lille midfielder Angel Gomes.

According to Claret & Hugh sources, Potter has played a key role in reigniting West Ham’s interest in the former Manchester United player. The Hammers attempted to sign Gomes on a pre-contract agreement in January, but their offer fell short compared to rival bids.

However, a well-placed source has revealed there is still a chance West Ham could land Gomes on a free transfer this summer—though we are currently trailing behind other interested clubs.

Additionally, despite recent speculation, Gomes has not switched agents. His representation remains within his family circle, with his brother overseeing his affairs. A top source confirmed, “Angel doesn’t even have an agent—his brother looks after him.”

Potter is reportedly urging West Ham to step up their efforts, as Gomes is keen on a return to the Premier League. That said, our source added, “The player [Gomes] does have one particular destination in mind, but at present, they haven’t declared their interest.”

Gomes is currently nursing a minor injury, but we understand he has five contract offers on the table. A decision on his future is not expected imminently

Think realistically the chances of signing either Gomes or David are slim but think there might be a chance, still.

Obviously far more sides are interested in David but when you consider that West Ham (over 3 managers) have held an interest in David for at least the past 3 and a bit seasons that could help our cause.

It’s also known that Gomes and David are close friends off the pitch so if it works out that we’re the only side putting serious money on the table for both then joining a club alongside a familiar face might work in our favour. The fact it’s well known that West Ham need a midfielder who can come straight into the side as well as a striker then “guaranteed” starts might also be beneficial there, too.

      Like your optimism.
Davide Frattesi was friends/housemates and team mates with Scamacca.
Speculation was rife he would join whu due to these connections but no.
