A top football insider has hit back at reports linking West Ham with a string of players in recent days.
Most West Ham news feeds have been flooded with names supposedly close to arriving at the London Stadium this summer — a list only rivalled by the number of players tipped to leave. Earlier this week, talkSPORTS Alex Crook was pimping Jarrod Bowen to Newcastle United and reports the Irons captain would be offski in the event of relegation.
But when Claret & Hugh spoke this morning to a trusted source involved in numerous transfers across European football, the response was blunt.
“It’s Just All A Nonsense”
“The truth is that West Ham have not been contacting any agents about signing anyone because they don’t know which division they’re going to be playing in next season.
“How can anybody speculate that West Ham will approach Nathan Aké is beyond me. Aké had a chance to join them in January when they were definitely a Premier League club, and he still said no. So it’s complete rubbish he’s going to agree to a move now.”
No Movement On Exits Either
When asked about players potentially leaving, the insider was equally dismissive.
“That’s not how it works. I really don’t think any West Ham players would have gone banging on the manager’s door demanding to leave in the summer.
“Sure, there will be a few who are thinking if West Ham go down, they might be looking for another club, but that’s something that will be discussed with their agent.
“It’s also very unlikely that any other clubs will be contacting West Ham at the moment and probably won’t do so until everyone knows who’s been relegated and clubs have worked out their budgets for next season.
“It’s just all a nonsense. I can tell you now, one million percent, West Ham are not even close to signing any first-team players, sorry.”
Reality Bites For West Ham Fans
It’s not the most exciting update, but it does feel like the most realistic one.
Until West Ham know whether wer’re a Premier League or Championship club next season, everything else is just noise.
