West Ham’s crafty transfer bid to swap the seemingly unwanted and underused Luis Guilherme appears to have fallen at the first hurdle.

Shakhtar Donetsk are reportedly pursuing West Ham’s wonderkid, with the Ukrainian transfer window open until 11 March.

Shakhtar have a decent track record of developing South American talent and see 19-year-old Guilherme as a possible target. With the Hammers’ well-established interest in Ukrainian attacking midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, some media outlets have put two and two together and got five.

Rumours of a potential swap deal involving West Ham target Sudakov have been circulating over the past few days, but Caught Offside has now killed the rumours completely, quoting a source close to the club.

It is understood that there is little or no desire for a swap deal with West Ham, but Donetsk remain keen on a straight transfer for Guilherme and are being very public about it.

However, Shakhtar seemingly haven’t been paying much attention to the 19-year-old Brazilian and his representatives, who have let it be known that they have ‘zero desire’ to move to Ukraine.

A non-West Ham source spoke to C&H this evening and simply said, “It ain’t happening.”

Shakhtar are currently third in the Ukrainian Premier League and are not believed to have the funds to make an offer that West Ham would find remotely tempting without the inclusion of Sudakov.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

what it means for now is that we have a deeper squad at no extra cost. if Potter whants to play a back 4 and either Scarles or Emerson is injured, the replacement is not Cressie. he was brilliant against the Arse but not in a 4. also means that Obi Wan gets to stay on the right, not having to call in Coufal. let’s hope it stays this way but i think Emerson will leg it in the summer

Once premier safety is CONFIRMED, I think we’ll see Potter utilising the squad to a greater degree allowing more opportunities for current fringe players to demonstrate their worth. This season has been a write off thanks to the idiocy of dodgy dwarfy Dave once more.

Potter’s aim was surely securing safety and preparation for the window and next season.

Still not marrying the figures on the ‘no money with tight PSR’ mantra being trotted out by some.

Why do we keep messing this kid about? He makes the bench every week so does he do that despite being useless? Probably not, in reality I am guessing he is actually one of the best 20 available to Potter, so why all the talk about getting rid? How about you all try some positive encouragement and let us see what he can really do/

We could always try giving him a chance to prove himself. The few very small cameo appearances he has made haven’t been bad

  • John Ayris says:

Swap deals rarely happen as they double all the factors that a deal can fail on. As for going to Ukraine…

  • Jeeps says:

Potter needs to get him on playing field to delude all pursuers.
That’s what he was promised when Tim persuaded himself and his family that whu was the place to be.
In present day crisis Ukraine is the last place he would want to be associated with.
