With rumour after rumour and the clock ticking down to the end of the transfer window, there is still interest in acquiring a midfield player and striker, yet securing a deal that works for all parties has proved quite frustrating.
The following is purely an update, so please don’t shoot the messenger!
West Ham have finalised their first signing, which is centre-forward, Josh Landers from Hibernian. The seventeen year old impressed in a recent trial and will hook up with the clubs U-21 development squad.
French club, Nice seem to have stolen a march over both West Ham and AC Milan in their pursuit of Ezechiel Banzuzi. The French club are in talks with OH Leuven, who are looking to secure a fee of €15m for the nineteen year old. The deal hinges on Pablo Rosario’s departure from Nice in this window.
Elsewhere, Jacob Steinberg is reporting that West Ham are edging closer to finalising a deal with Brighton for Evan Ferguson. This will likely be a loan with an obligation to buy. Ferguson has suffered a number of injuries in recent years that has hindered his progress, but Graham Potter has made it clear that the young Irishman is a key target for him.
Ricardo Pepi was allegedly another target yet Claret & Hugh can confirm the player suffered an injury in his teams 3-2 victory over Liverpool. The US striker scored one and assisted another, yet is now being assessed by the PSV Eindhoven medical team.
Tyler Morton is a player that West Ham are keeping tabs on but more on him later!
Lastly, another option is Ismael Kone at Marseille who has been made available for loan. The Canadian midfielder was on the Hammers radar in the summer when at Watford, yet left for the French giants in a deal worth up-to £15m. He has struggled to make a real impact in Ligue One, making only eight appearances. Valencia and Werder Bremen are other clubs that have registered their interest.
Sullivan will have told potter to get 12pts to secure safety. Bids made for players that they know won’t be accepted.when he was at Birmingham he told the fans they were after maradona. West ham have NEVER had ambition, and never will. Is it just me or does potter already sound like Moyes? “The board have been fantastic, it’s my fault, looking for the right players”
It’s just you
It’s a crazy market Matt. Ben Jacobs has tweeted that Jhon Duran is set to join Al-Nassr for an initial €77 million but the total package is around €90 million. He states that’s a similar fee to the one that saw Neymar join Al-Hilal from PSG.
Sounds like a poor bunch to me, we’re scrapping about again. No clear direction or target.
Such a shame that Pepi was injured last night. would have been a great signing. Can’t believe we are not going all out to sign Banzuzi an absolute bargain at £15 million in today’s market.
Can’t understand Ferguson at all, 2 goals since November 2023 says it all and how is that an upgrade on our other injured strikers?
Why are we not chasing Santiago Giminez? Milan just made second bid of €30 million plus bonuses and Feyenord looking for €40 million. Giminez was injured after scoring during Feyenord’s 6-1 thrashing by Lillle last night and has scored 5 goals in Champions League. Jonathan David and Angel Gomes both scored for Lille.
Giminez/Guessand and now Boniface his deal to leave has been scuppered.
Karen Brady is enthusiastic about getting deal done for Ezechiel so watch out for whu famous late run.
Can only but hope.
