West Ham Transfers: Hammers Make an Offer He Can’t Refuse

West Ham United have gone into full Godfather mode by making Lille striker Jonathan David an offer he can’t refuse.

That is the latest from the website Sports Witness, although I must admit to using a little bit of creative licence by paraphrasing them. What the report actually says is that West Ham have made free agent David an “irresistible offer,” which is slightly different from what Don Corleone used to entice people.

Apparently, the Hammers have made the Canadian international their number one target at all costs, and he’s extremely tempted by the offer. The article also suggest that the prolific striker has set his sights on a transfer to the Premier League.

As Claret & Hugh has reported on numerous occasions, Barcelona and Arsenal were the front-runners for David, who can sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside France. According to Sports Witness, Barça have now dropped out of the race for the striker, which has increased West Ham’s chances of landing him.

However, before anyone gets too excited, the Lille frontman was offered life-changing money from the Saudi Pro League, which he turned down. Reports at the time suggested the player was not money-driven and wanted to continue playing Champions League football.

Therefore, it’s difficult to imagine quite what West Ham can offer, irrespective of how tantalising our financial transfer package might be.

    More chance of winning lottery.
If it’s champions league he wants that puts a distance between him and whu.
Might help if his only demand was premier league but even then would seem unlikely.
