West Ham are reportedly looking to bring in at least two new midfielders this summer, as Graham Potter seeks to overhaul a midfield according to GiveMeSport.

One of the Hammers’ primary targets is said to be Genoa’s Morten Frendrup. The 24-year-old has been a revelation in Serie A, establishing himself as one of the league’s top ball-winners since his €4.4 million move from Brondby in 2021. West Ham are not alone in their interest, with Wolves, Fiorentina, and AC Milan also monitoring the Danish player labelled ‘the Complete midfielder’.

Frendrup’s defensive numbers are make for pretty impressive reading. He leads Serie A in both tackles attempted and tackles won, while his ball recovery numbers are the highest in the division. Additionally, he ranks third for duels won, with 170 successful challenges—trailing only Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni (187) and Napoli’s Scott McTominay (184). McTominay has been incredible since leaving Manchester United in the summer and was a target for former West Ham manger David Moyes and Frendrup has run him close this season.

West Ham are said to be confident that a fee of around £17 million could be enough to secure the midfielder’s signature although Claret & Hugh have not been able to verify the claim.

The other player said to interest the Irons is Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory since joining from Leicester. Former gaffer Julen Lopetegui was supposedly keen to bring the 26 year old in during the January transfer window but his sacking ended any interest until now.

With Tomas Souček, Guido Rodríguez, and Edson Álvarez all expected to leave the London Stadium this summer, the Hammers’ midfield could look very different come the start of the 2025/26 season.
