West Ham have reportedly had an opening offer for Mario Stroeykens flatly rejected by Anderlecht according to numerous from Holland & Belgium this morning.
The Hammers tabled a €10m (£8.5m) bid for the highly-rated Belgian midfielder, but the Brussels club weren’t having any of it, insisting on a minimum €20m valuation. It’s important to state at this time that these are mere rumours, however ExWHUEmployee has stated serious interest from West Ham for the midfielder.
Aged just 20, Stroeykens is exactly the profile Hammers boss Graham Potter is targeting. With a good eye for a pass, the energy we desperately need, the youngster fits perfectly into the revamped midfield Potter is trying to implement at the London Stadium.
Anderlecht’s inability to extend Stroeykens’ contract has put clubs on alert – but it’s West Ham who’ve supposedly made the first real move.
If true, The Hammers’ approach makes sense given Potter’s comments about signing younger players from outside Europe’s top five leagues. But now it’s up to the board to back the manager and go again if indeed a double your money bid is needed.
Have to agree with Dartmoor, West Ham is not a good place for youngsters, they just get sidelined and eventually leave by own accord or get sold for peanuts. West Ham can’t develop youngsters, they just don’t know what to do with them which is a disaster for the club and relegation looms.
By targeting 20 year old midfielders are we saying that West Ham’s own youth players aren’t good enough? Potts, Earthy etc. I think Freddy Potts is 21 if I’m not mistaken.
The truth is that many of these Euro players are hugely overpriced for obvious reasons . They want 20 million and Westham can’t get that for Aguerd who’s the best defender in La Liga last season . The trick for Sullivan is knowing when to stick or twist . Duran had already shown his skills in the Premier League and as such was a sure thing and worth paying top dollar for whereas players from hugely inferior leagues can easily fail .
Best defender in LaLiga?
Hardly
Too young , too good , wouldn’t advise him to come to this circus, don’t own the ground, don’t own the training ground, a manager who is at best average, owners who not only have no vision, but actually hamstring anyone who want this club to succeed! 60 years supporting and have to say that under Sullivan and co this club has been on a downward spiral, unfortunately it hasn’t reached rock bottom yet. These are just my opinions of course 😭
I’m no negotiating genius but that @@@@ Sullivan (and Brady) are such dinosaurs. Just lowball continually and as John says ‘well we tried’
Still maybe we can get DKL and Calum Wilson over the line 😒
I call BS, what a farce
It’s the same story year after year let the world know who there after, then there’s another one that got away. The only thing there interested in is profit.
Sully will offer 5 bob and porno mag subscription.
“,sorry we tried”
