Leicester City are believed to have tabled a contract offer to Josh Brownhill, the former Burnley captain and one-time West Ham target, following his departure from Turf Moor after his deal expired.

However, the player and his agents, Cassius Sports, are still mulling over the offer, with a preference to be playing top-flight football.

Now 29, Brownhill enjoyed an impressive Championship campaign, scoring 18 goals and supplying six assists—figures that haven’t gone unnoticed. Graham Potter is said to admire the midfielder.

A true box-to-box presence, Brownhill could fit in well within Potter’s energetic, pressing system.

Celtic have also allegedly entered the race, hoping the allure of Champions League football might tempt the player. However, they would face challenges competing financially with both Leicester City and West Ham.

Despite Brownhill’s qualities, questions remain at West Ham, where Potter has been tasked with rejuvenating the squad’s age profile. With Brownhill approaching his 30th birthday in December, many fans are urging the club to seek younger alternatives.

Speculation continues, fuelled by reports that Brownhill has purchased a property in Brentwood, Essex—just a short commute to West Ham’s facilities.

David Sullivan has been heavily involved with transfer business this summer, and given the rumoured budget constraints, Brownhill would represent an affordable option.

However, C&H are aware that a number of offers have been made for a number of midfield targets, who have been identified by the club’s recruitment team, and we believe the ex-Burnley skipper is at the lower end of the list of targets.

Player exits are also expected at the London club, with growing interest in both Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez.

All eyes will be on how the situation unfolds in the coming weeks, as Leicester aim to wrap up a deal quickly – which many West Ham fans hope will be the case!

This is the first time at a beginning of a season were I think we are no1 candidates for relegation. Goalkeeper would struggle to get in a championship team. That’s why our back 4/5 look low on confidence. We have a owner who thinks he is the manager. David gold kept him in check but now he has gone Sullivan is on a mission to relegate us

I wouldn’t read much into Brownhill buying a property in Brentwood. Since he owns a property investment company called Brownhill investments limited whose business is the buying and selling of property. I imagine he buys quite a few different properties in different places.

Celtic would have trouble competing financially with Leicester City? That would be the Leicester City the club with perennial financial issues and with owners who are monetarily in the brown stuff?

Load of rubbish. 18 goals in the champ is usually 4-5 in the Prem at best. Brownhill should have stayed put at Burnley. We have a “placeholder” forward now, don’t need a placeholder midfielder too. I suspect we will get 1 or 2 keepers, depending what the market for Areola is like (not great I suspect). 1 possibly 2 midfielders, again depending on outgoings. Youngsters loaned out; Earthy will probably go, with Marshall, Orford and Fearon. Scarles will stay, although I maintain he should get a season out under his belt in the Champ. Finally, I hope we get the young Senegal lad in for €15-£15, he looks very impressive. If Scarles is loaned it would be nice if we could get Martinez from Girona too. We would be well placed then for an upper mid finish in my opinion. Depending on the outgoings, this could be done for £60-70m

Guido won’t raise much based on interest so far, even £5m would be great. Consideration his calibre a drop in the ocean. In any league other than Pl am sure he will be successful. Alvarez would want at least £30m for.

Feels like the future is players like Fernandes that can get box to box more than our opponents.football is more akin to basketball in the modern game which is why Pep is moving away from Tiki Taka to go vertical (Klopp style) ironically Moyes’ish though with higher quality.

Brownhill would be a terrible signing.

Reducing the average age is definitely a requirement, but is it really necessary to go from one extreme to the other in the space of one window? A balance of youth and experience will likely work. The problem is more Wilson, not so much Brownhill.

i hope Leicester or whoever else wants Brownhill succeeds and thwart Sullivans lack of ambition. still there will be plenty of over the hill freebies to go for so i am sure Sullivans not losing any sleep
