West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo has been described as 50/50 to remain at the London Stadium next season.

That’s according to a transfer insider who spoke to Claret & Hugh yesterday and described the central defender as “in demand”.

Todibo is currently on loan from French side Nice, but West Ham will have an obligation to buy him at the end of the season for £35m. It is believed that Manchester United have already offered the Hammers £45m for the centre-back and will return in the summer with another bid.

Our source told us: “Todibo is still in demand and a lot of teams like him. It’s not really worked out for him at West Ham. If Kudus and Paquetá leave in the summer, Todibo might want out.”

The comments appear to be more about ambition than any falling out with manager Graham Potter, which has been denied by the club.

When C&H asked our source about the rumoured bust-up between Todibo and the West Ham manager, we were told: “Nonsense, that’s the first we’ve heard about it.”

Reading between the lines, it seems the Hammers will have to show a decent level of ambition to hold on to the former Barcelona player, who is wanted by Man U, Juventus, and Milan

From the moment Todibo was signed he seemed disinterested in being match fit and still isn’t . If Man United offer 50 million and a big wage he’s gone . Westham need players whose blood runs claret and blue .

Look it’s a work in progress and for Potter everything starts to get real in Summer. He has now had 2 and a bit months to scrutinise the squad and see the positives and the glaring weaknesses of which there are quite a few. Expect a lot of outgoings. This is going to be a new broom and it’s going to sweep every cobweb from the club. It’s not just the deadwood like Cornet, Ings, Rodriguez, Cresswell and Coufal, all the big names are going to go – Paqueta, Kudus, Alvarez, Soucek, Fulkrugg, plus Aguerd and Todibo – who the club were always a temporary chaperone for anyway before he hops off to Man U. Potter is going to recoup at least 230 million from all the outgoings. If Potter is very shrewd and buys one really good striker Delap / David and one good midfielder Gomez,.and then brings in the youngsters like Earthy and Potts to add to Scarles I don’t think we are going to miss much. What you can say is that who ever starts for West Ham next season – it’s going to be an entirely new team other than Bin Saka, Kilman and Bowen. It will be Potter’s team and he will have no more excuses.

I know you can’t really stop players leaving but we need at least 1 other centre half so why even contemplate a sale of probably our best ch ,in my opinion. If man u want him got to be £80 mill
