West Ham could be looking to bring in two more players, according to a breaking report from Hammers News.
The update includes quotes from a London Stadium source responding to questions about West Ham’s pursuit of Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey and young Senegalese striker Idrissa Gueye.
While the source appeared to confirm that the Hammers are indeed chasing two more signings, there was a sting in the tail: “We need to move a few fringe players out first before moving our other targets due to FFP rules.”
Claret & Hugh have already learned today that one of those departures is unlikely to be Tomáš Souček, who is set to remain at the club. That means West Ham will be relying on sales of players such as Emerson and Andy Irving, while also attempting to offload the likes of Guido Rodríguez and Maxwel Cornet.
The positive news is that the club remain in the market for both a striker and a midfielder—two areas where the squad still looks short, especially in terms of pace.
For now, it seems any arrivals hinge on clearing space in the wage bill and generating funds through sales.
55 million for kudus, we have spent 39million on 2 players so far that leaves 16 million that’s enough for another decent younger midfielder with some legs and pace, so [edited]and stop taking the fans for mugs, the wages for those 2 players and the 2 freebies is far less than the money saved from the release of fabianski, soler, Cresswell, Antonio and the rest.
You forgot Todibo
If the players we have let go did not help clear space in the wage bill then something smells
The kind of team where Rodriguez or Cornet would be a significant enhancement to the playing staff is the kind of team that does not have a signing budget, so cut your losses and dump them both.
Guido, Emerson, Irving, cornet are clearly the four I would say we could do without. Can’t see how we need another striker as it could block any progress for young Marshall to come through. however I could easily see a situation where both Fullkrug and Marshall were injured.
Ih we definitely need a young striker who has been playing regular first team football, as combined our two senior strikers come to almost 70 and Marshall cannot just be seen as the alternative……..yet
