West Ham United have performed a swift U-turn on their stance regarding young talent Lewis Orford, after initially considering including him in a potential transfer deal for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.
The Hammers had proposed a player-plus-cash offer for Duran, with Orford potentially heading to the Midlands as part of the deal. However, with Aston Villa rejecting the proposal, West Ham have now decided to retain the services of the highly-rated youngster.
The club are set to open talks with Orford and his representatives regarding a new contract, recognising his potential and the importance of developing young talent within the squad.
It is also important to point out that the 18-year-old central midfielder is entering the final 12 months of his contract, and the Irons are desperate to avoid the risk of him walking away as a free agent at the end of the forthcoming season despite refusing to meet his demands during initial extension talks.
With the Duran deal seemingly hitting a roadblock, West Ham’s focus will now shift to securing the Colombian striker, while also tying down Orford to a long-term contract.
I’m sincerely hope West Ham can com to an agreement for Orford who clearly has a bright future ahead of him.
transfers, arent they what children stick in books, sullivan etc must have loads of them by now. are we entering another david moyes scenario. we need a striker, we get a goalkeeper and a defender. give the talents of the youth squad a go, so we might loose a few points, whats new. we will forever be tarnished with the sullivan moyes era.
Poor from us. How many players have already turnt us down? Absolutely embarrassing in these transfers markets, thought it was meant to be different with our new set up?
Won’t be surprised if we don’t get Duran and Villa get Orford for free next summer.
Getting to the poiny again where im not going to follow the runours amymore its ridiculous. Why do all of our targets get released to the media and no one elses do.
Embarrassing
There’s no such thing as a free with academy players. If they run down their contract and join another club a tribunal sets a fee which if I remember correctly was £3M with Harrison Ashby.
Give the kids a chance in all the positions, screw the transfer market. Might take a season to acclimatise but will save us a fortune and encourage the best kids from other academies to come to us.
😄😄 and we’ll be playing championship football next year
If Orford didn’t sign a new contract and went somewhere else then a fee would be set by tribunal.
If I remember correctly it was £3M with Ashby.
U21 squad players have an extremely poor record of making it as premier league players in recent times. A very poor record regardless of wherever it is that they go. They seem to get the idea that they’re worth a high wage, go to Newcastle, Leeds, Watford instead and end up loaned out in the lower leagues.
Perkins is with Orient, Ashby is with Swansea, I’m not even certain that Mubama has a club.
Very well said mate
This site has become a laughing stock-if only it wasn’t so addictive as we want to believe half the fairy stories on here!
Jude Bellingham on his way anyone? Used to support the Hammers when he was weaning apparently……..
Lost the player to man u or Newcastle what wrong with westham you got pay the money or get nothing just cough up the money
He and any of our Academy players should never be included in any transfer deals. What message does that send to the youth players ! They put in all the years of hard work only to wonder if they will be used as a makeweight in deals !
wrong on every level
Lost another good player because they won’t pay the money Newcastle are going to get him
Good call, should never have considered disrespecting Orford like that. He is first team potential equivalent to Duran at this point.
You talk like you know what’s going on at our club but you don’t.
Utterly bewildering how you can write this stuff and some idiots will believe it.
Different transfer window same old Sullivan 🤡
