West Ham are uncertain on the Jarrod Bowen knee injury which has seen him sent back to the club by England boss Gareth Southgate. He will now face a scan before any decisions can be made on his inclusion for the weekend game at Turf Moor. One insider revealed to us that it was unusual for Jarrod to be in such a position as he isn’t a player who suffers too many injury problems. But another added quite simply: “We hate the international breaks. They can – as we are seeing – bring so many issues.”
Southgate decided to send the No 20 back to Rush Green having realised there was a problem with his knee which although he didn’t think was serious needed to be looked at by the Hammers medics. It means of course the player has been counted out of the international against North Macedonia tonight.
The Hammers had been very fortunate with injury problems so far this season but it has caught up big time this time around with Michail Antonio possibly out for up to three months depending on the extent of his knee ligament problem and now Jarrod back at Rush Green.
Our main source added: We are hopeful Jarrod will be ok because quite frankly if he isn’t we are very short of power up front. Both he and Mike will have scans.”
