West Ham United stay in fourteenth place after that victory last night and Lopetegui surely does enough – just – to keep his job for the time being. The’must-win’ game is won, the stay away boycott didn’t seem to materialise so talk of Graham Potter arriving any day is surely silenced for the time being,
However, another performance that flatters to deceive. I lost count of the goal attempts – I’ll have to check the stats later – but nine corners in a first half shows plenty of commitment, if little reward. Good displays from Summerville. To my mind he is now cemented in that left wing role, Wolves defenders kicked lumps out of him all night because they couldn’t catch him.
Kudus was quiet, bursting into life in the second half with two goals both disallowed – correctly – for offside. But Lopetegui may have unearthed his best forward trio for the second half of the season, and they deserve more opportunities to play together and grow.
Having been a big Mavropanos critic, I have to praise the Greek’s performance although on another night he could have had a penalty awarded against him for treading on an opponent during a challenge in the ‘box.
Was this west Ham display an improvement? Or just a reflection of poor quality opposition.
We’ll find out in the weeks running upto Christmas when the fixtures are tougher: I suspect the cracks will reappear again, I hope I’m wrong!
The article is good. If the manager can get a win here & there I don’t see much progress being made. I would guess that is what the bosses want. They have to let him go so the team can grow with someone else I charge.

We were poor against Wolves it proves nothing about loppy . If that’s the best we can do under him he needs to go .
Wolves have won 1, drawn 2 and lost 5 away from home. It is easy to see why.
Awful . Two bad VAR calls for Wolves . So lucky. We were handed the points and on another day or against better opposition we would have lost heavily.
It was dull and uninspiring . No set pattern of play .It was like watching park football on a Sunday morning .
Would rather have got beaten and get rid of Loopy . As it is the dildo dwarf has the excuse he needs to do nothing and keep his wallet tightly closed .
GARBAGE !!
Did have Man Utd vibes getting bailed out by VAR. That’s now 2 games where VAR got man of the match.
Wolves are one of the worst teams in the league and we struggled against them. Same performance really as against Leicester except we scored they didn’t get any luck. We will get thumped again by any decent team. Mavropanos makes serious game changing mistakes every game and AWB seems to play as a winger. The defence will concede most games. The central midfield is slow and not good defensively or offensively. One positive result, not even with a good performance, doesn’t change the awful season. Lopetegui should of gone and the problems will get deeper the longer he stays. Apart from the obvious ongoing tactical confusion and brewing changing room problems last night not one player from the youth system even on the bench again. What is the point of the academy?
Summerville has to start week in week out! He proved last night that he can torment defences. No player has looked as dangerous as him on the left with Wolves having to double up to contain his threat.
I’m not getting carried away by the performance as Wolves are a very extremely poor team lacking quality. It’s easy to see why Wolves sit in the bottom three.
With the amount of crosses and corners (our most in a game) it was strange that Fullkrug didn’t come on. Soucek exposed how weak Wolves are at defending corners. Wolves have conceded a league high amount of goals from headers / corners so it made sense to use our main threat to punish them. Fullkrug scored this way against Leicester so tactically it would’ve been a smarter substitution than Ings.
We got a bit lucky with VAR, but edged it to gain a vital win. Spurs got carried away when they beat Man City but sit just 2 points ahead of us. Consistency is key so time will tell in the next few fixtures.
Is JLo someone we can honour his 3 year contract? Can he transform us to achieve a top 10 finish? For me the answer is no. I’m pleased the pressure is off both him and the team.
Our next 3 games will tell us all we need to know.
If we end the season 14th or lower surely our ambition is greater than that. I thought the expectations of JLo were to be higher than a mid table team?
Don’t kid yourself, the cracks were there last night for all to see.
It was another poor performance,we got away with it as we were playing an equally poor team and when we needed the luck on the penalty decisions for once we got it,on another night though those decisions go against us and we lose that game.
The result changes nothing for me,Lopetegui still needs to go.
You say we’ve found a front 3 in Sommerville, Kudus and Bowen there,I strongly disagree with that as well,we lose our cutting edge on the right when Bowens not there,it’s no coincidence he looked more dangerous with his runs and getting his goal when deployed there midway through the second half.Kudus simply doesn’t work in that position, for the life of me I don’t understand why he’s not given the 10 role and let him do his running and create stuff through the middle with 2 midfielders playing behind.
Lopetegui still needs to go asap,it’s clear he hasn’t got any respect from a lot of the players out there last night….
Can you answer me this please,we put in our only performance of note this season up at Newcastle with a midfield of Soler,Paqueta and Soucek which worked hard and combined well all night up there, then for the next 3 games after that Lopetegui brings that donkey Alvarez back in who is an accident waiting to happen every game ??
Lopetegui needs outing, yes we won last night whoopee dos against a poor team,so the next 2 games we go on and lose and it’s back to Lopetegui out.
Sullivan should have grown a pair last week and sacked him,we could have had the tea lady in charge for that game last night and still won, my point being Wolves are awful nothing was learnt from that result last night apart from the fact Lopetegui still needs to go
Agree about the front 3, Bowen has to play RW, his winner proved it. Midfield didn’t have any real cutting edge and found it strange Paqueta didn’t come on at half time.
Loppy will probably get another “3 more games” from a Chairman who won’t admit he got it so badly wrong. Allegri and most of the others who have been linked are underwhelming.
Sebastien Hoeness hopefully has already had a phone call and we are just waiting for Stuttgart to sort out his replacement.
Agree also that Loopy obviously has a fractured relationship with our team. The player he seemed most happy to embrace was Totti after the game.
Any other team currently above us would’ve beaten us last night.
I think the issue is that Paqueta isn’t currently offering much of a cutting edge either… Hopefully, being left out helps him, because we need him back to his creative best. Would certainly be a better choice than Soucek for me, in linking play and creating opportunities. Yeah, I know Soucek scored, but other than that he was anonymous as always, meaning we’re effectively playing with 10 men.
The starting line up looked promising. The problem was being too slow in the build up frequently against poor opponents.
It wasn’t a comfortable win which is a big worry
After Leicester I thought his time was up but now if all this speculation about a short term fix till the end of the season is true then I think we should just stick with him and get behind him because he is clearly a stubborn fighter and despite what is being said on social media I believe the players including Todibo are behind him. So if it is a choice between sticking with him and reviewing at end of season or getting Potter in short term then I would stick with JLo because we won’t go down and who knows he might turn it around completely but if he doesn’t it clears the way at the end of the season for an Allegri or whoever to come in .
Honestly don’t want Allegri. Out of the coaches being rumoured, my dream choice would be Sebastian Hoeneß, and if he’s not available or open to joining us, then Graham Potter as a project coach. I think it’s too early for us with Michael Carrick, but maybe he’s someone that could be reassessed at the end of season if Boro are able to gain promotion.
Sullivan needs to let Tim choose the coach this time though, and I’ll fully support them. Lopetegui feels like the cheap option, and Allegri feels like a mercenary signing as he’s already top level and that comes priced in.
I’ve been saying this since Moyes departed. If we are to truly operate like a well run club then our DoF has to interview and pick our next coach.
Sully cant be trusted with hiring managers or interfering with his preferred agents for player recruitment.
Hoeness is the head and shoulders above any of the managers that have been linked in recent weeks.
Sebastien Hoeness should’ve been given the job in the summer to replace Moyes.
I don’t rate Loppy or the players he told Sullivan and Tim to sign. Rodriguez and Soler are not Premiership quality. Soler couldn’t even impose himself last night on a Championship team like Wolves.
Having Steidten and Hoeness aligned will give us the chance to be truly ambitious.
Forget your ego Sullivan and start acting like a competent chairman and give us this German combo so West Ham can progress.
Don’t believe the journalists and news on Sky or Talksport. C&H top sources are equally unreliable as this site seems to post any ridiculous story from places like the Daily Mail 🤦♂️
It was just a reflection of poor quality opposition. The high press will get found out once again in the coming weeks. You know it – but apparently the board don’t.
