Image for West Ham United v Lille – Lineup announced

The last friendly of the summer takes place this afternoon as West Ham welcome visitors Lille for the Boyle Sports cup in the traditional curtain raiser before the Premier League gets under way next weekend.

West Ham have new signings to reveal – Mads Hermansen has signed but not yet been announced and his commitment comes too late for a place in the team this afternoon. El Hadji-Malick Diouf, Kyle Walker Peters and Callum Wilson have all joined West Ham this summer and will hope to be involved in Graham Potters squad this afternoon.

This afternoon’s fixture takes place in front of a ‘sold out’ lower-tier only home crowd at London Stadium and is available for season ticket holders as a free view whilst non ticket holders will have to pay about a fiver: The game is live on whutv and ac cess can be gained from the web site. “Today’s game will see the winner lift the inaugural BOYLE Sports Cup. Should the scores be level after 90 minutes, a penalty shootout will take place to decide the victors. There will be no extra-time played.”

Potter’s team news for this afternoon is that the XI to start are as follows:

West Ham United

Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Aguerd, Diouf, Potts, Ward-Prowse, Paquetá, Bowen ©, Füllkrug
Subs: Foderingham (GK), Awesu (GK), Walker-Peters, Scarles, Mavropanos, Álvarez, Rodríguez, Orford, Irving, Souček, Luis Guilherme

No sign of either Callum-Wilson or Marshall.

We will be back at full time for player reviews and opinion and analysis: you can give us your own opinions too after the full time whistle.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Can anyone understand why JWP is always in the team? What does he do? Slow, not defensive, not creative and carried in the team for free kicks and corners we never score from. We are playing with 10 men.

Brilliant to see Mads signed and Freddie Potts get another start but surprised no Callum Marshall? Would have been the perfect opportunity to give him another 45 minutes to show what he can do ahead of next week’s Premiership opener.

I guess we are trying to help Sunderland nail our starting line up and formation for the first PL game!!
