West Ham United v Manchester United | Goals, lineups – predictions

At just the wrong time, a resurgent Manchester United visit London Stadium unbeaten in ten games to take on West Ham with both sides playing for huge stakes: The Red Devils are chasing a Champions League spot whilst for the Hammers, Premier League survival is at stake.

With Nottingham Forest taking on bottom side Wolves tomorrow night, West Ham will be desperate to pick up some points rather than see the ‘gap’ start to open again between themselves and the ‘safety’ of Forest in 17th position. Nuno has expressed concern over injuries that he feels will leave some players sidelined this evening, and his starting eleven will reveal all: Kidology or genuine injuries?

Our ‘best guess’ is that -providing the intel is correct and it is Pablo who misses out through injury – Nuno will make one change and strengthen the midfield that has looked porous against Chelsea and Burnley by the addition of Freddie Potts, pushing Fernandes further forward into a number 8 role. Which would mean the starting eleven looks like this:

West Ham United

Hermansen | Wan Bissaka, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf | Soucek, Potts, Fernandes | Summerville, Castellanos, Bowen(c)

Score predictions

Martin 2-1 West Ham

Gonzo 2-1 Manchester United

Sean 1-0 West Ham

Matt 2-2 respect the point

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

  • John Ayris says:

They have fourteen points from their last six games we have nine, they’re on better form than we are and in fact they top the form table, we’re eighth.

That’s not a background for we’re likely to win, I think a draw is as good as we’ll get with them more likely to win.

I’ll be hoping for 1-1 with anything better than that having me swinging from the chandeliers.

  • Phil Baker says:

I think that this is a must win against Man U as 3 of the next 6 matches are against Villa , Liverpool and Man City . Fulham away and Bournemouth will also be tough to win . 2 wins from these 6 matches is difficult . Only 6 points from these 6 matches will likely leave Westham further behind Forest . Please no second half tactical surrenders from Nuno and no injuries .

  • Terry says:

I think you’re right Martin bringing Potts in as Manure have a strong midfield & it gives more license for Fernandes to get forward as well.
