West Ham United v Southampton | Claret and Hugh predict

|

Basking in glory from having got the team prediction spot on against Liverpool – if not the relatively modest scoreline- Claret and Hugh again attempt to use our collective wisdom or otherwise to predict Graham Potter’s selection for this weeks home fixture against bottom side Southampton.

Increasingly difficult to ignore our wishful thinking that Potter will finally opt for a set up with a striker – experience deems this by no means a certainty – but surely against the Saints Potter will abandon the immensely irritating and frustrating two men-only attack which might be fine away at at Anfield but at home against relegated opposition would be unforgivable.

So we have bitten the bullet and guessed that West Ham’s set up will be 4-2-3-1 – with the team selection as follows:
Areola | Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Scarles | Ward Prowse, Soler | Bowen, Paquetá, Kudus | Fullkrug

Score predictions

Sean 0 – 0 ( I think his words were ‘the battle of two sh*te teams that cannot score)

Matt 1 – 0 West Ham win

Gonzo 3 – 0 West Ham win

Martin 2-0 West Ham win

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

  • John Ayris says:

Southampton lose a lot and it can be four or five but most often isn’t. I think they’ll lose today and I think they’ll lose 3-1
