“Back for Duran in Jan?” | It Just Got More Expensive

West Ham United‘s pursuit of Jhon Duran remains active, with the club planning to make another attempt to sign the Colombian striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

During the summer transfer window, the Irons faced obstacles in their pursuit of Duran. Aston Villa’s £40 million valuation for the striker proved too high for the Hammers. Additionally, the club’s inability to sell Danny Ings further complicated their efforts to acquire Duran.

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui remains keen on signing Duran. The Colombian striker’s talent and potential have impressed the Hammers boss, who believes he could be a valuable addition to the squad.

No matter which way you look at it West Ham ‘s forward line is aging,

Fullkrug, 31, and the 34-year-old Michail Antonio are our two main centre-forwards , and there have been recent concerns over the ex-Dortmund man’s ability to adapt to the Premier League.

The addition of  the 20 year old Duran would provide a much-needed boost of pace and direct running.

So the plan is for West Ham to revisit their interest in Duran during the January transfer window. We may have a better chance of securing the striker’s signature at that time, especially if they can offload some more fringe players to free up funds.

However, the plan could be a flawed one. The striker scored again for Villa yesterday and it’s not beyond reason that he could oust Ollie Watkins from Unai Emery’s team.

If the Hammers do wish to sign the Columbian. We may find the price has gone up.

Just give it up. At this rate he’s going to be Villa’s first choice striker soon..

  • Claret says:

They should have paid the price when they had the chance to sign him this was a bad error, everybody thought Steidten had a good alternative but unfortunately the alternative is a slow too old German we are now going to have to pay a lot more for Duran

  • Amy says:

I think the chance has gone, honestly, and certainly at the original price.

  • Sir Alfred says:

Not a chance now unless we make an outrageous offer which presumably is a non starter financially. As u say, possible Duran pushese Watkins out if things continue as they have been but only chance we have is now end of season if Duran remains 2nd choice and feels he is still not getting enough minutes but we make him first choice.

Even then we will need 60-70 million. We missed the boat. The one glaring misstep if an otherwise good summer transfer window.

  • Colin says:

Agree completely with most of the comments regarding Duran. West Ham faffed about and now the chance has gone. Come January even if Villa decide to sell which is highly doubtful his valuation will have doubled.
Hard to understand that they wouldn’t pay what I believe was an extra 3m in total 40m for a striker with Duran’s potential and at 20 years old he would have been a snip.

  • Martin storrie says:

Not getting Duran & going for Fullkrug seemed madness due to ages, now Duran is scoring & Fullkrug looking slow & static, we slipped up very badly on this one, surely Sullivan must have seen this, villa must be laughing now.

  • Jimbo says:

FFS – 3 games in and Duran is the new Pele and Fullkrug the new Andy Carroll. Give it a rest. Fullkrug would most likely have buried those 2 chances if he were at Villa and Duran would most likely have not had a sniff had he been playing for us. And whilst I’m on a roll, sort out these sh*te ads will you?

    • Jeeps says:

Not going to criticise who we bought and who we didn’t buy.
As they say ‘You cant please all of the people all of the time ‘.
If Villa are in and around top 4 at Christmas they won’t be selling Duran.
Need 2 players for each position and Duran is their back up.
Agree about ads pile of cr!p that nobody reads and need time and patience to negotiate them.
Slows site down to a snails pace.

    • Chicken Run says:

      Totally agree mate

    • Kane, who talks poop says:

The adds are p1ss annoying and crash my phone.

  • Peter Bendall says:

A brilliant window has failed to provide the central striker we have needed for 5 years . What a shame . Duran would have been perfect and has age and future value massively on his side. How can we have messed around trying to get him on the cheap and then taken a slow , past it , German instead .How naive to think that we could snatch a bargain from one of the best clubs in Europe . Massive error in judgement . Clearly obvious that he is not going to make it … we have replaced the crippled Zouma with a striker who would struggle to beat him in a leg race .

  • Sensible3 says:

Honestly its not going to happen, his quality and Villa are finally working that out.

  • The Truth says:

Funny reading some of these comments. It was only a month ago every fan was praising West Ham for sticking to their guns and not budging on the price. Bet you wish they’d paid the extra £5m and got him for £40m instead of a 31 year old who’s never played in this league for £27m! I said at the time, whoever made that decision needs sacking!

  • Dudley Tyler says:

Columbian? Which fringe players (most are on loan) do West Ham intend to sell to raise the forty million or more? Are we anticipating that the dam will break and the footballing world will see the true value of Danny Ings? Duran is also a moody ***. He’s had lots of attention over the transfer window and now scores some goals. Which will only make him more confident he should be the starter at Watkins’ expense. And when it doesn’t happen the enfant terrible will reappear deciding that three hundred thousand a week at a Saudi club (with Villa getting offered a cut price transfer fee) sounds more fun than hanging around the Bull Ring on a wet winter’s afternoon.

  • Gary Allison says:

FFS 3 GAMES IN & ALL I READ IS DOOM & GLOOM
market is closed so rather than negativity what about getting behind players till at least January then we can strengthen again & keep pushing onwards COYI

  • Joe says:

Wish we’d just put up the cash for him instead of Fullkrug, have a bad feeling Fullkrug isn’t gonna be great for us, would have much rather buy someone who also might not be great for us, but has the potential to be really good, and is 11 years younger

  • Ian the sub says:

Probably the only sensible thing MOYES said that there is a shortage of central strikers . Hence W.H. considered Duran was overpriced ! obviously not , especially when compared with current central striker . I hope you can teach an old dog new tricks without a natural feeder ( e.g. J.W.P. ) ?
