West Ham v Chelsea

Following both teams getting 1-1 draws to kick off the 2023-24 Premier League season, West Ham United and Chelsea clash in the Sunday afternoon London derby at the London Stadium.

Last week at Bournemouth, a 51st-minute Jarrod Bowen screamer propelled the Europa Conference League winners into the lead, but Bournemouth responded eight minutes from full time through Dominic Solanke, as West Ham escaped with a point despite enjoying just 37% of the ball at the Vitality Stadium.

Moyes lamented Bournemouth’s “completely lucky” equaliser as the ball fell kindly for Solanke to tap home, but our Supremo admitted that his side invited pressure as the second half progressed, and similar tactics could potentially prove fatal against Pochettino’s new-look Chelsea.

West Ham’s first home game of the season could also see debuts for newly-signed midfield duo Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, the former being judged not fit enough to feature at the Vitality Stadium, whilst Ward-Prowse’s arrival was finally confirmed on Monday.
