The enticing prospect of an elevation of three Premier league places beckons for a West Ham win tonight under lights at the London Stadium. Graham Potters’ Hammers lie in 16th spot on 33 points, just one behind the trio of Everton, Spurs and Manchester United, all of whom would be overtaken if West Ham can do the double on Newcastle United.

The Hammers won 2-0 away from home in December and victory tonight would be their third win on the spin after success against Arsenal and Leicester City.

The team news tonight is that Graham Potter has again named an unchanged starting eleven for Newcastle’s visit. This must be something of a record for West Ham this season: In reality it means no place in the starting XI for Lucas Paquetá or Evan Ferguson, and that Graham Potter has stuck to his 3-5-2 formation:

West Ham United

Areola | Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell | Wan-Bissaka, Alvarez, Soucek, Ward Prowse, Scarles | Bowen, Kudus

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

We are playing at home, the team need to stop playing back to the keeper and show energy

Well just watched the first half and I’m seriously concerned that Potter and Southgate are related !
Who plays a back 5 with a midfield of Alvarez ( in my top 10 of worst West Ham players ever ) , Soucek and Ward Prowse ….
Thank God Newcastle are in second gear

  • John Ayris says:

I’ll trust the gaffer with that, decent options on the bench…
