As expected West Ham United have secured the experience of their longest-serving player, Aaron Cresswell, with a new one-year contract extension.

Cresswell, who was set to become a free agent at the end of June, will enter his 11th season with West Ham. The club values his experience and leadership within the squad.

While primarily a backup to Emerson Palmieri last season, Cresswell still made 18 appearances across various competitions. Notably, he started both legs of the Europa League semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Cresswell also chipped in with a goal in the Europa League quarter-final against Freiburg, helping West Ham overcome a one-goal deficit and secure a 5-1 victory.

“10 years is a long time, and I’ve loved every minute of it here,” Cresswell expressed on West Ham TV. He emphasised his delight at extending his stay and revealed his family’s deep connection to the club and the city.

Cresswell acknowledged his reduced playing time last season but showed maturity in understanding the bigger picture and supporting the team. He expressed confidence in his ability to continue contributing both on and off the pitch.

Overall, Cresswell’s contract extension provides West Ham with valuable experience and leadership within the squad. While his playing time might be limited, his positive influence and dedication to the club remain strong.

It also demonstrates to other players that we’ll look after good servants of the club. Happy he’s staying – adds a bit of drama when he comes on with this free kicks, excellent crossing and wobbly defending! 🙂

11 years…….Surely West Ham will grant Cresswell a testimonial? Still good enough to cover for Emerson and for cup ties against the likes of Exeter, Crewe and Mansfield if required. He’s been a good servant and deserves the extra year if he wants to stay. Good luck to him.

We’re becoming a bit of a retirement home for footballers. Nothing new, Ogbonna, cresswell, noble, ginge etc. at least they are our own. Was a time we would buy in old knackered has beens from other clubs. Good luck to cressy though. Hope he can still perform when he has the opportunity, in the cup competitions or whatever.

They were all good players and earned their places in the squad at the end of their contracts, Bonzo.

They should have got rid of him last season. I suppose they will only use his for the final 5 mins of a game.

Seriously though . Always the neglected full back positions.
A cheap solution ..yet again , god help us if Emerson. Is out for a while . Cresswells legs have gone
