It’s a return to Premier League action for David Moyes’ West Ham United this weekend, as Wolverhampton Wanderers make the trip to London for Saturday evening’s late kick-off.

After a run of poor results, West Ham can ill-afford anymore slip-ups, should they want to avoid the pressure of an early season blip.

Boasting just one win to their name so far this season, the Hammers start the weekend inside the relegation zone. .

Back-to-back defeats in the league were a frustrating way for Moyes’ side to end the international break, having looked to have turned a corner before that with a win and a draw against Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

They boast just four points from the opening seven games, but almost more alarmingly for West Ham has been their inability to score goals.

With three goals to their name so far this season, the Hammers’ attacking threat has been costly, despite the arrival of reinforcements over the summer.

Big-money arrival Gianluca Scamacca is yet to find the net from his five Premier League outings, which is the same problem plaguing Maxwel Cornet’s start to life in Claret and Blue.

While West Ham may be struggling at the moment, confidence will be found in the fact Saturday’s opponents have endured a similarly difficult start.

Just one place and two points above West Ham in the table are Wolves, who entered the international break on the back of a 3-0 defeat against reigning champions Manchester City.

Much like the Hammers, Wolves have netted just three times in their opening seven games.

However, despite their position in the table, Bruno Lage’s side surprisingly boast one of the best defences in the division.

Having shipped just seven goals so far, only five of the Premier League’s 20 sides have conceded more, with Everton the only team from that group not in the top half of the table.

Winners in three of the last four meetings between the pair, West Ham should fancy their chances against an out-of-form Wolves outfit at the London Stadium this weekend.

What’s more, a strong record at to Wolves should inspire the hapless Hammers, with the Midlands side men having lost four of their last six away to West Ham.

Only time will tell if West Ham can resurrect their poor start and climb up the table and Saturday’s clash looks like the perfect place to start.
