Juventus Dithering Opened Door

It appears that West Ham United have secured the signing of highly-rated defender Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice.

The Hammers appear to have fought off competition from Juventus to land the 24-year-old centre-back, with Todibo reportedly growing impatient with the Italian giants’ reluctance to meet Nice’s valuation.

West Ham’s loan with an option to buy for £35 million next summer has proved satisfactory for Nice whilst Juventus dithered. Todibo is set to undergo a medical in London – today- before officially joining the club.

The Irons have out-bid Juve before this summer and the player always stalled because he was waiting for the Turin giants.

The difference this time is that multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia report that both Todibo and his club  lost patience with Juventus and decided to accept West Ham.

The Frenchman’s arrival is a Landmark Signing for West Ham. Not only has this Tim Steidten master class surprised Hammers Fans who assumed the budget had been blown on some pretty impressive signings so far this Summer: West Ham out-foxing Juventus is not something we’d have considered being remotely possible 12 months ago when Steidten was banned from West Ham’s own team dressing room.

Dithering or their financial condition? Not so long (2022/3) since they had a a E123 million loss, the largest in Serie A. While West Ham are doing great business in this window they are taking advantage of general financial weakness in world football. This spend is probably a one off but West Ham are probably betting that financial restrictions are going to be eased over the next 12 months.

Totally agree with that Dudley. Great to see you are still looking out for West Ham. Always enjoyed our West Ham (&Hereford) chats when you dropped in at my company whilst with Glazpart.
